You guys all have it backwards. Travis schlenk was the problem in the A. He drafted deandre Hunter and cam reddish with the #4 and #10 picks. He then gave Collins 25 million a year. Those 2 moves single Handedly made the hawks mediocre. I’m glad he stepped down he was making all the wrong moves.

I really like this new change, hopefully every team or most have a great player and you build around him. Or if they go like the Suns you have no depth and just 2 or 3 really good players instead of a team of good players and 1 or 2 really good players. It just sounds like the NBA will be more interesting like that.
Edit: or teams will be a lot more careful with contracts and only the top 5-10 players in the league will get a super max

I think this collective bargaining agreement is going to bite the nba in the ass. It gives teams less incentive to grow talent to their full potential to prevent them from paying big numbers. Also for big markets, this will cause teams to enter this tax for one to two years, going all in with superstars and then leave the tax once they finish winning a championship. Makes the teams and player loyalty much harder to come by and it’s already in a bad state

Mike, I have the balls to say what you and a bunch of commentators aren't allowed to say, the Hawks owner doesn't want to win, he actually told the public in that statement that he's all about maximizing his profit at the expense of winning. How often do other owners say they're not going into the luxury tax after a surprise winning season? I'm glad I'm not a Hawks fan, I would have left the fandom for another team. I'll also mention that the Hawks are one of only 2 teams in the Eastern Conference to not win the East, and in the last 30 years, I don't think they were even a contender to win the East even though they made a couple of Conference Finals series.
