Why the Nets should target Orlando Magic’s Cole Anthony to improve their Point Guard play



The Nets need to fill a void at the Point Guard position and the Orlando Magic, following the drafting of Anthony Black, have a surplus of backcourt talent.
Doug and Adam discuss everyone from Jalen Suggs to Gary Harris with the spotlight centered on Cole Anthony. Age, contract and upside are all weighed among these players. The guys discuss the fit, and the price of improving a position of need on the roster.
The big factor in all this is the lack of current talent on the roster. While Spencer Dinwiddie took on the role admirably, ultimately the Nets need backcourt balance. Doug reminds everyone that $40m man Ben Simmons remains the most viable option, while Adam looks at David Duke Jr and his progression in the G-League. In both cases, for very different reasons, neither can be relied on to fill the void, leaving Sean Marks to attack the market this offseason.

    Hello everyone. Already suggested that if Damian Lillard is not in our range Cole Anthony would be a great plan B option. He's a versatile scorer who can develop a lot more in Brooklyn. If Brooklyn could acquire Cole and backup center Wendel Carter Jr as well that would be a positive trade for Brooklyn to add two younger skilled players to their new core and deepen it more…..

    But this Damian Lillard rollercoaster sweepstakes just keeps turning. Now Dame doesn't want to be part of a superstar squad and just wants to be on a team that has a chance. Apparently he wants a Draymond Green type defender on his team as well.

    Just based on today's tea leaves it feels like Dame would be happy playing on a Brooklyn Nets team that cares about culture has willing strong defenders and has a chance to make real noise and build towards contention…..

    People can still say Dame Lillard doesn't make us contenders but Brooklyn has a solid defensive core to balance out Dames fierce scoring abilities….

    Again Miami still looks like the front runners but if Dame leaves it up to the Trailblazers office then anything is possible…..

    Spencer dinwiddie Cole Anthony and Ben Simmons as far as guard depth goes might be more balanced. Plus having Anthony allows Ben Simmons to play center as well as some point guard and see if they can develop chemistry as well.
