[Ali] Sources say that the Raptors realize it will likely require an annual salary of at least $30 million (and possibly higher) to secure VanVleet’s return. The Rockets, provided they miss out on Harden, are said to be ready to go to such lengths to sign away FVV

I got a bad feeling masai will pay whatever price cause he doesn’t want to risk losing anyone

  2. blueseeka

Why are we getting all these crappy no name sources. Basically just redoing the Stein post from earlier

Jak’s been a lock despite the rebuilding rumours. Pascal wasn’t going anywhere. I think they’re truly looking at GTJ/FVV and what they could do with them. I just don’t want them to make the mistake of overpaying for a guard who doesn’t move the needle man.

it’s obvious one of gary or fred is gone. this is what we all knew coming out of the season. there’s no way masai can pay all these guys and have space to sign guys to extensions next year too.

What do you think Fred wants? A big contract from whoever? Get another chip and join a contender? Or to stay home in hopes we match his offers? The man has quite the poker face I swear

does this really need to be posted every single day?

  7. ForceOfP

Bet on yourself FVV. Just get the bag and don’t worry about anything else. We’ll miss your grit, defense and playmaking with jak but you’d do more harm than good coming back at that price

Is it a bad or good idea to sign him for whatever it takes. Then try to trade him later?

FVV and his Agent: “Masai, we want 36 million a year or we’re going to Houston!”

Ok so is it $34×4 or is it $30×3 because those were both reported today but they are very different for the long term

For the short term, MLSE should just pay the tax if that’s what it takes to keep who the FO wants

I get Fred is about the money, but the dude is also a competitor and wants to be on the court. You can’t tell me he looks at Amen, Green, Porter, Whitmore and thinks he’s going to be starting in 2-3 years on that team. They’ve got way too many guards to give Fred a starting spot for the duration of his contract.

30M per year for a big defense liability in playoff, Maxey would be really happy if we do it!

  13. Rey123x

This makes a Lillard or scoot trade much more likely

People saying let him walk – what starting PG we signing?

  15. Ecstatic-Buy-2907

It really is a rough situation. Either you overpay and deal with it, or you lose him for nothing. And despite what some people on this sub seem to believe, losing Fred would make the team worse

I think the most I would be willing to go is 3/95, starting at 29 mill and increasing to 34 mill his last season

  16. Clean_Bass5255

The Raps don’t have good proven starting point guard options if they let FVV walk, but he’s already looking washed some nights. With the miles on his knees he might not be a starting point guard for long anyway. A big long contract would be a millstone making future roster building problematic. They went without a true center for a long time, they might be better off giving Barnes the keys at least until they can find a more qualified point guard.

  17. DirtyDan419

That contract would be one of the worst in the league unless its something like 2+1 team option.

  18. piranhas32

I love Fred but let him go. He’s going to suck by the third year of any contract at latest.

Look at Houston’s history, if they’re making these offers its likely a big mistake. Plus its tampering before 6pm Friday. I guess the tampering is just a slap on the wrist, which teams consider a cost of doing business. Sometimes the NBA is so wussy.
