[Hollinger] Ever known a couple that all your friends thought should breakup, but neither of them wanted to be the asshole and do it and so they just kind of dragged everything on and on and on? Can’t thinking anything in the NBA that applies to, just a random though that popped in my head

Historically I’ve been part of that couple

  2. pskill43

Neither of them want to be the first to tell the kids that they are divorced

  3. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George

    Dame Lillard and Portland.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this where the player AND team don’t want to rebuild or a change of scenery.Even KG and the wolves parted ways.Sixers got rid of A.I but blazers and dame refuse to move on. Kinda mind boggling fr

Bill Simmons sports czar needs to come in and make this Miami trade happen for the good of the league. It’s the only plausible destination that could affect the LoB.

  6. abris33

Dame dug himself too deep with the loyalty stuff and the Blazers are happy cashing in on having a star instead of rebuilding

  7. Both_Funny4896

Scoot is in such a lame situation

a lot of people settle for what’s comfortable, especially once it has become the status quo

    The best take on this.

Dame really needs to either grow up, or shut up. If you actually want to leave, make the call, and be willing to accept the consequences. I would actually expect that most Portland fans would be pretty supportive of this given the years he has given them, and the return they would get if they make the move now, rather than in another couple of years. And if there is a loud minority that is unhappy, then that is just what you have to deal with when you are getting paid 50-60M a year.None of this trying to manipulate things from behind closed doors and then just putting out backhanded comments through the media.

There is no onus on the Blazers to trade him until that happens unless they get a godfather offer (which I am sure they would’ve accepted already if one was on the table).

I thought John Collins got traded already.

Hollinger and hating on the Blazers because Chandler Parsons decided to sign with the Grizzlies and Hollinger and not with Portland, name a more iconic duo.

I feel like one of Dame, Simons, Sharpe, or Scoot will have to be traded, no way there’s enough minutes for all of them to get sufficient playtime.

aside from the obvious this is kind of how i feel about draymond and the dubs

  14. or_maybe_this

    media trying even harder now

getting desperate to write the story that they themselves have been edging lol

  15. Moe4ver

Except one of the couple keeps telling everyone he is about to break up with the other but never does.

  16. NevermoreSEA

Yeah, it worked out great for Aldridge when he left for a better team.

John Hollinger, u good my guy? If ur not happy in a relationship, you should leave.

  18. OnlyMamaKnows

I’m sure he’s referring to Dame bc the media is horny for “is team x now a legit contender with Dame” content but this could also apply to Siakam/Toronto and the Clippers/chronically injured duo.

Maybe guys aren’t desperate to get out of places they like and teams aren’t just going to trade guys for a box of donuts bc the media wants some off-season movement ASAP.

  19. Even the media are done with Dame’s shit.

  20. Blazercaster

Bro why do you care? How is this hurting you John?

I was in that couple once, with a girl from Portland (Maine, but that’s the original anyways) and after a couple failed playoff runs, and a lottery season decided to break it off.

I moved onto the Euro-League, up in Spain. A lower profile, higher quality of life with far less competition.

Sometimes a change of scenery is for the best. Lillard could put up 60 a night in the Euros right now. It’s time Portland, trade him to Europe.

  22. Love how all the media chiming in now like it’s only bc of this current situation like they weren’t saying Dame should leave all along even during the good time they been trying to push Dame out

  23. mamba-pear

Their breakup sex is going to be phenomenal.

  24. BballNeedsSeattle

Portland has been bullied the last four years on Dame cause he’s too good. They HAD to break up Dame and CJ, hoping Dame would be the one out. Folks just can’t stand him being a Blazer and get All-NBA after All-NBA.

  25. grizzlysquare

This is a horrible analogy, doesn’t surprise me he flamed out as a nba exec real quick

  26. PuzzleheadedWest0

I should block this sub until the season starts. So many shot takes by nephews who’ve never seen a blazers game.
