My dude one of the reasons brad felt comfortable in making a smart trade is because of d white who we can argue was there best 3rd player last year without white brad doesn’t move smart I looked at white as a better smart in my opinion more calm more unselfish and better shot selection for anybody questioning he’s defense he just made a all nba defensive team this is why brad felt comfortable in moving smart

Guys, you are drastically underestimating this team’s need for a bona fide 3rd scorer in the closing lineup.
The fact that they’ve gotten that in the form of a 7’3 Big man negates the need for the volume of perimeter Playmaking required to execute down the stretch.
Having 3 first option level scorers alone makes the very nature of individual creation easier. Being able to use more post play in the offense alleviates the need for a centralized playmaker.
Add Brogdon’s shooting/scoring prowess into this mix & the team can put an extreme amount of inside/outside scoring pressure on an opposing defense.
Injury risk is very real, but don’t question the significant increase in the upside of this roster for title contention.
He should be the starter
you're not going to get any great return on having JB next to other players you mentioned – Tatum, Porzingis, etc. JB doesn't make plays, is below average 3 point shooter, and average defender – his basketball IQ is not considered to be good, to put it lightly. So if you're thinking "wow we're going to have all these guys on the floor" you might be wondering "what is going on? Is he an all-star? Yes. Is he a $59 million a year max player and "2nd all nba" – no, unless you think he is above LeBron or D. Booker (guys who didn't make it to 2nd all nba!) JB should be on a team where he is #1 and can get all the shots he wants without the need to make plays.
This podcast is good but Adam really really needs to get more succinct at asking the guests questions.
I initially had the same thoughts as Adam especially previous Playoffs under Ime. However, going over what he has done D White has shown flashes that he shall be a real facilitator. They must allow him to be the PG though and let the JAYs be wings so the team can be better organized both ends of court!
They actually NEED a 3 & D tough efficient ball handling guard to take some pressure off defending best players like Marcus did. This way Derrick can focus on setting up the team and taking care of the ball! They could throw money at B.B. to come home & JB take 285MM instead to win a ring! Grant & Malcolm= Draft Value + depth player!
I'd rather have Porzingis as #2 scoring role, and Jb as 3rd. JB jacks up over 7 3-pointers a night and hits 1/3 of them. Not very good. Porzingis actually shoots better from 3 than "supermax" JB.
The way Adam just described Derrick white possibly being the starting PG I thought he was describing Smart…let’s stop being homers for a second…losing smart is fine
Get over this overrated Marcus Smart Bullshit… After winning defensive player of the year, He did not even get close to playing the same intensity of forcing turnover defense that he is capable of.. We will win banner 18 this coming season.. Mazzulla will need to device a better offensive system to incorporate KP for easier looks, not just 3’s. This is a damn good trade, I trust Brad more than all the over hyped emotions 😢that media is portraying… This will work.. Bring back Rondo just to move the ball around and get easier baskets for the new big 3 we have. Rondo can beat Spo’s zone defensive scheme.. Rondo’s genius is not predicated in athletic ability, therefore being older would not be an issue.. He can be a backup that can we can utilize close games. I trust him with ball in making decisions.

Celtics fans have to let go of the Grit and B***s Celtics. It is officially Tatums team, and he plays a finesse game. He shrinks from Bar fights.
But, finesse teams can be really fun to root for as well.
If the roster stays the way it is, of course DWhite is the starting PG. He earned it. He needs to shave what's left of his hair and get rid of the headband and build some more muscle. I'd love to see Pritchard get more run. He is a TRUE point guard. Put Payton in there feeding KP & Rob and everyone will get fed.
Except White is a 6”4 SG…!!!!! & Smart was the best playmaking Guard we had & now he is gone & we have to pick between a Broken Brogdon or Pritchard… I like Pritchard but he’s not inducing any confidence in the lineup…!!!!

Believe me I was cussing celtics and Brad stevens the minute I heard about Smart’s trade but after a few days, minus the emotions, this trade is not the worst trade for the Cs.
I also dont agree with Adam’s assessment of Dwhite. Since dwhite has been a celtic ive noticed he plays greater and bigger when he has to cover for one of the pgs when they are injured etc. Obviously the management has also seen that. This move is a boost of confidence from them on White’s emergence. Yeah he is more shy more timid than Smart who’s vocal and Mr. hustle but Dwhite is as tough as can be and most importantly high IQ as can be on the floor especially when given a bigger role. I am excited for him this season.

This dude putting smart on a pedestal acting like he was a top 10 player in the league🤣. Smart was by far the worst guard, miles behind white and brogden all year. And lets ignore the nonstop turnovers and horrible shot after horrible shot. Theres a stat when smart shoots 13 times in a game is almost a guaranteed loss. Yea such a valuable asset🤣. The good outweighed the bad!? Thats a laugh riot
Porzingis is a Top 4 post player in the league, behind only Jokic, Embiid & KAT in points per post-up.
don’t understand the weeklong whinefest over Marcus Smart. he’s not a true point, struggled to average more than 6apg (which he only did ONCE) on a stacked team that desperately needed a pass-first playmaker.
that wasnt Marcus Smart.
Marcus was a combo guard who could neither shoot effectively as an off-ball spot up guy nor pass effectively enough to be the point guard this team needs.
to top it all off he used his seniority to force himself into positions that didnt help the team.
how many times in the playoffs did we wonder why Derrick White wasnt closing games instead of Marcus who was having a terrible game?
how many times did Smart take liberties with ill-advised shots because as “leader by seniority” he felt entitled to them?
Smart was moved because DWhite was better & Smart wasnt good enough to justify the leadership role he had. period.
the kicker is literally NOBODY outside Boston thinks Marcus is as good as fans like Kaufman do. he went into free agency in 2018 & again in 2021 & BOTH TIMES he generated minimal interest around the league, received less money than he thought he deserved, then complained publicly about it.
he had an interview with Jay King in 2021 where he explicitly stated his initial intention was to test the open market cuz “i gotta get mine.”
please, let’s put the “heart & soul” trope to rest. this team HAD NO heart & soul & choked in the ECF’s to Miami TWICE (2023 & the Bubble) & in the Finals. he wouldnt have died for this city & he was intent— as recently as 24 months ago— to seek greener pastures.
Porzingis & 2 first rounders for Smart was highway robbery & ABSOLUTELY made this team better, clearing out the combo guard logjam & providing desperately needed reinforcements up front.

IMO, Tatum, Brown, and Smart were there three lowest-IQ players, especially late in close games. Offensively, Smart was a liability and his defense seemed to fall off this year. Porzingis is a better player than Smart so it's a trade I'd do 100 times out of 100.
