that would be an … interesting lineup.
We can only hope. Save us from ourselves HOU.
Feels like every agent is using Houston for leverage.
We’re really gonna lose Fred for nothing lol
2 years 80M? Take that money and run FVV
Rockets boutta be the most dangerous 11th seed
Wonder if they’d send us Porter Jr for Freddy, they’d still have 45 mil in capspace if they do and we get a 23 year old on a good contract who can play multiple positions.
Bit more details from Jake:
> Reaves still appears to be an option for the Rockets, although word has only grown in league circles about Houston’s chances of prying veteran point guard Fred VanVleet from Toronto. While staying with the Raptors still sounds like it’s on the table for both parties, Houston is prepared to offer VanVleet a very competitive deal, while all those whispers about a James Harden return have noticeably decreased in recent weeks. The Rockets, sources said, are considering short-term, high-salary contracts in order to land top-target free agents with their $61 million in cap space. It would take a maximum contract to ultimately lure VanVleet from Toronto, sources said, which would top out at two-years, $80 million.

I think Fred in Houston is a terrible fit, and he’d probably be available at the trade deadline for expiring contracts if we want him back.
Houston has absolutely no use for Fred.
Rich Paul picked the team with the highest cap space and is throwing the highest number possible into trade rumors to get Fred’s value up.
This is all bullshit.
Fake news
Everyone, just be prepared for the Raps to re-sign Fred.
FVV has said he will take the bag everytime.
But considering what Eric Gordon and John Wall thought of Houston, there ain’t no way FVV isn’t concerned about running that daycare.
Wall was making 40 million sitting on his ass and he couldn’t wait to get out.
If we don’t sign Fred do we have cap?
In trying to work out how the new CBA is going to impact salaries, I think one thing we might see is more front-loaded contracts, as teams are increasingly concerned about long-term commitments and the second apron. A long term contract for FVV could be something like 35 in year 1, and decreasing by 8% each year. With the cap expected to keep rising 10% per year, the cap hit reduces fairly aggressively. One of the reasons that format was unpopular previously is because what a player was making in the last year was crucial to a big extension. With the relaxed rules on extensions, that’s less crucial.
For the Raptors, such a structure would necessitate dropping salary or paying into the tax this year. But it might still be worth it to create a much more valuable, tradeable contract.
Please leave FVV. Bet on yourself not the Raps
The first team with a 25% 3pt percentage
fred for 2 years is a steal for HOU. they will use him for a year to develop the team then probably trade him next season. win, win
After what Houston did to their last head coach, fuck’em, they need Fred to whip they ass in shape.
I’m praying to heavens this happens
Get fvv outta here
No state income tax too in Texas, take the money fvv
