Grant Williams on the Smart trade: “Something that definitely hurts a little bit. Just because you’ve been with someone so long and he’s a phenomenal person. He has as much heart and passion of anyone across this entire organization.” #Celtics.

  2. I’m honestly super happy with the roster as is if they’re able to bring Grant back. He can do a lot more than what he was asked to do last year and we can’t afford to lose any more muscle especially against our main competition in the east.

if hes willing to sign for the ~7-8 mil we have before the 2nd apron I am sure wed be all for it but I dont see how someone doesnt beat that. Even if we stripped the bench to the bare minimum all vet min guys I dont see how you get more than 10-11 mil in space for grant.

You need guys like grant to win a chip, get it done

grant if you sign a short deal and we get that chip you can get the bag next year king

The more I think about it I hope we bring Grant back. I don’t think we can rely on Al as much as we have over the past two seasons.

Grants plays adequately on defense and can hit the 3 ball.

To have a front court rotation if Porzingis, Rob, Grant and Al will be very important to keep them all fresh and healthy by the time the playoffs roll around. Both Rob and KP have never played more than 70 games, and Al is old now and his shot is starting to fall off. Grant could be **very** important piece this year.

We absolutely need him or someone like him (hard to find).

A weakside shot blocker doesn’t mean we need less POA defence on bigger bodies.

Porzingis and Grant are very different in how they play defence. Porzingis is there in the Rob role, Grant’s there as a replacement Horford.

Especially important with Horford getting older and Smart gone.

Trade Brogdon for a younger, developmental PG and keep Grant. If we had confidence Brogdon would be healthy enough for a big role all season + postseason I’d say stick with him, but obviously that’s a huge question. We can’t have $22m tied up in a backup PG with questionable health and we absolutely need a strong bodied 3pt shooting PF that can do a decent job guarding Embiid and Giannis.

Mavs would probably give him what he wants and he can be fed open threes from Luka all day.

He needs to go make his 18 million a year while people think he’s worth it

  12. Grant will be a great 4 next to KP as a 5 in some line ups. Brings enough toughness even if he doesn’t score too much.

I wouldn’t mind having Grant back but at no more than the value of the MLE. CBA going to be painful for teams with multiple supermax types.

Pretty much forces you to have to surround your 8 rotation guys with rookie contract and vet minumum types.
