It’s almost like this team desperately needed shooters to create space.

Idk. I still think Siakam and Barnes will clog up the paint. But what do I know. I only read stuff from the janitor.

  3. In theory it should help, but we still have Poetelelelel who is another guy who is another paint non shooter.

So in the end no it won’t help until we get rid of Siakam or Barnes.

    “We the mid”

Gradey and scottie are they only two things that actually have me hopeful for the next season. If we lean into the rebuild, my outlook and positivity towards the team will instantly flip.

Drafting him makes it look like we’re finally changing direction, but we need a lot more changes.

  5. I don’t think it is fair to lump Pascal with Scottie and Yak as a “non shooting big” Pascal is a slightly below average 3 point shooter but his mid range jumper is superb. Scottie is a terrible 3 point shooter who is trying to develop that aspect of his game but Yak is a zero percent 3pt shooter.

I think Pascal’s number would be better if he didn’t have to take contested threes as often as he does. He isn’t someone you leave open even if you aren’t expecting him to hit contested 3 pointers like some of the better shooters in the league.

Where I think Grady fits so nicely is that he has proven he can score without needing the ball. The Raptors last year had ball dominant Pascal, ball dominant Fred, ball dominant Scottie, OG wanting to be ball dominant and the black hole that is GTJ. The only guys in the front half of their lineup that didn’t want the ball the majority of the time were Yak and Chris. Regardless what the final make up of this team will be come opening night, you will have at least 2 and maybe 3 players on the court who need lots of touches and like to initiate offence. Grady should pull defenders from the paint or give those guys a reliable safety valve on a drive.

New triangle offence and call it the Scottie-Spicy-Dick

great analysis as usual, although I don’t go past the paywall it’s probably worth it

    I liked these

“… He just doesn’t need any space at all; he’s a zone-buster all on his own, even if the team has done nothing to shift the defense or create advantages.” – playing vs. the zone was a major problem for this team

“… And even though he’s slow in terms of straight lines, with the [slowest three-quarter sprint measured at the combine](https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/combine-strength-agility?dir=A&sort=MODIFIED_LANE_AGILITY_TIME), he also recorded [the fastest shuttle run](https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/combine-strength-agility?dir=A&sort=MODIFIED_LANE_AGILITY_TIME). He [doesn’t stop moving](https://youtu.be/ptRYFK3sA0Y). ” – Grady will never have to run a 3/4 sprint anyway. He only has to run between 3 point lines on a fast break.

People need to get out of their feelings and look at the team objectively. Our ceiling with Siakam as a number 1 option isn’t great and his game doesn’t mesh well with Scottie, who is clearly our future moving forward. This is why we should get rid of him for pieces that better fit with Scottie. Has nothing to do with Siakam as person or his work ethic or how good a teammate he is. Sometimes a change is just needed and that’s okay. While I appreciate him wanting to stay, that might not be the best course of action for the future.

Any time this gets mentioned our fans lose their shit and take it as hating on Siakam when this not the case. I know the situation was very different but there are similarities with Demar. He loved Toronto and didn’t want to go but him as a number 1 option wasn’t going to get us where we needed to be and clearly that was the right the move. Either way I trust Massai but this is a business, can’t get emotional about players without looking at the whole picture
