[Mizell] Tobias Harris on his name being in trade rumors again: “Casual Sixers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie. But at the end of the day, they have to realize that you’re not getting a 6-9 forward back who can damn near shoot 40 percent from 3 guard the other team’s best player (cont.)

Sixers beat reporter Gina Mizell [tweets](https://twitter.com/ginamizell/status/1673800157966606337?t=z9H8LQFm4a9hbwipSWDq6Q&s=19) a quote from 76ers forward Tobias Harris, who is entering the last year of his contract.

Full quote:

“Casual Sixers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie. But at the end of the day, they have to realize that you’re not getting a 6-9 forward back who can damn near shoot 40 percent from 3 … guard the other team’s best player, shoot, post up, drive and play 70+ games a year…I believe we have the right talent to be a championship team and we have the right pieces and the right culture. With a new coach, I’m excited for what we’re going to bring to the table.”

bruh was the 17th highest paid player in the league last year

  2. peroper7

He’s not wrong but that contract will always be crazy

  3. Tobias is elite…against the Pistons or Rockets in a random January game

  4. dank-kush

Crumbl Cookies would be getting fleeced

  5. Calm-Cry4253

It’s gotta suck to play for the Sixers. The fans are never happy.

Guard the other teams best player?

I mean, i can stand in front of them and get COOKED on a consistent basis too…

  7. Well, he can definitely play 70+ games a year.

  8. tagprobablylag

Does he guard the other team’s best player effectively though? Lol

  9. shit-coach-simps

Sixers fans, how angry are you after hearing this lmao?

  10. bloodmuffins793

Crumbl Cookies are pretty good though

  11. KorgG29

I’d argue that Crumbl is a better fit with the team’s timeline and contract situation. Do it Morey

  12. FrnklndaTurtle

They got a key lime pie cookie that can do all that.

  13. KneelBeforeCube

Jaren Jackson Jr is who Tobias thinks he is.

  14. Flobending

At first I thought the end of the title said “(can’t)” and that made me chuckle

  15. I mean, he said guard and not stop because he is not stopping them, he is just there when they score on him

  16. HolyRomanPrince

Tiffs Treats are way better than Crumbl anyway

  17. SkilletMaestro

I will say he is not exaggerating about his availability, but I saw that man try to carry the load when Embiid was hurt and Simmons went awol against Atlanta. He took it to the rim and missed every time. It’s just not helpful to have your 4th best offensive player need the ball in his hands to do anything and not do any of it particularly well. He has the heart but he’s just such a weird fit and has been the entire time

Crumbl Cookies, founded in Utah. Harris to Jazz confirmed.

TIL Tobias Harris has a small stake in Crumbl Cookie. Excellent businessman

This is actually not the full quote. It excludes the first half of the quote which talks about his Dad saying those things to the media and his comfort with his role in Philadelphia

  21. GarriganGate

Feels like he’s saying that the fans would trade him for anything even though the only thing better than him is a player that can do all of those things, which is an unrealistic ask

  22. mylastphonecall

lmfaooo shoot 40% for 3? like when he was bricking open corner 3s all series agains the celtics? or defend the other teams best player like when Tatum was hunting him if Maxey wasn’t on the floor, scoring every possession? what a fucking joke this guy is beyond delusional

  23. Dischucker

His reputation is gonna flip next year once he’s back on a reasonable contract.

Looked like the only one interested in playing g7

  24. yungrobbithan

We have that on my favorite team. His name? KEEGAN MURRAY

  25. ZigZagZoo

Talk your shit Tobi, I don’t want to trade you for a cookie. Your salary is a little high, but you are a good player.

  26. He’s not guarding the other team’s best player and coming out ahead, but he’s largely correct with everything else in regards to skill, but not consistency. It just comes down to whether or not Nurse can find a way to properly utilize him with our roster.

People bitch about his contract, but very few people realize we only signed him because of bird rights. Our options at the time were to max him and have no cap space or to let him walk and have no cap space. Even now, what we do with him largely depends on Harden. If we give Harden anything close to a short year max, then it makes no sense to get rid of Harris because we’d get no cap relief and would almost certainly be a worse team with the return. We’d only get that cap space back if Harden walks AND we get rid of Harris.

It’s been said many times, people don’t necessarily hate the player. He’s inconsistent and makes too much for what he brings. People hate the contract. If he made half as much people might love him.

  28. trapHerm

If that 36 M a year was like 26 M then this is a solid take , except that guarding the other guys best player is a bad thing not a good thing lol

  29. Arctura_

Doc catching strays with that last sentence!

  30. QbertRegionalChamp

I am not a Sixers fan, nor do I have any feelings about Tobias Harris. As such, I’d absolutely trade him for a Crumbl Cookie
