They didn't learn the suburbs didn't work the last time…I understand they didn't have public transit there back then. Killing me how fast these teams say something is "dated"
Lets talk about a bigger issue. Billionaires blackmailing cities for better facilities when we know cities today have many problems and don't have enough resources to take care of their problems. In this case, let the owners pay for the renovations themselves like any other business does. If a Walmart or Target store wants to renovate, they don't go to the city and say pay for the renovations or we will close the store and move. Yet, in sports, this practice is OK. A standard for major sports franchises. My tax money to pay for your business renovations? There is an argument that the city will loose money if the team or teams move. When you start to look at the cost to a city to continually renovate these stadiums and areas, how much is a city really making? A fan goes to a game for 3 hrs yet the fan needs be in a palace to watch a game? Time for the billionaires to take responsibility for their own business renovation costs. Not the taxpayer who might never go to a game.
Man that is crazy because I have been to DC and at times we didn’t have the kraken yet and of course I remembered when the Sonics left in 2008. And I just remember walking by the capital one arena and thought it was really nice. And at the time looked better then key arena.
But yeah it’s amazing how the tides and tables have turned especially since we renovated key arena and turned it into climate pledge arena. And now capital one arena is the one that is absolute and old.
Cap1 is not a dump by any means but the interior design is dated. I wouldn’t hate a new complex in or around Arlington. But they need to emulate the really nice arenas of Europe and how those integrate into the urban environment.
Snyder wanted the new commanders stadium in Woodbridge but you can’t even take a train there so that’s just stupid. They need to build on top of RFK old spot by the armory.
You need to talk about the security situation around some of these sports venues. I am much more likely to go to a pro sports event in Northern Virginia than downtown DC. Also, the parking is a major issue going to these pro sports events in a downtown location. Parking is terrible around Capital One Arena.
Capital One arena in DC is a great location. They should just tear it down and build new their. That's one thing I've noticed about the pro teams in that area. They have been all the place. From Landover MD to Virginia , and back to the DC area. They have to get it right. I do understand all the restrictions they have in DC. But if they can get a nice arena inside DC, it would be great. The Baseball Nationals did it. Why go all the way to Virginia. The Capitol and White House area is awesome 👌.
The 76ers owners are renting the use of Wells Fargo Center that why they want their Own Arena . The group also Owns the New Jersey Devils and soon they will be Owners of the Commandors when it's finalize with NFL
The Capitals and Wizards would be insane to move from their location at capital one.
People don’t realize that it is located in basically the perfect spot for the Washington sports market.
Leonsis (team owners) know this and are likely making this move just to light a fire under the DC government to start to leverage a much larger – Madison square garden style- renovation partly funded by the city.
Moving from this location downtown would be just awful…
Capital One Arena is in the heart of D.C. and prime real estate. D.C. Metro (subway) is very good and the arena is close to all the lobbyists and politicians which make teams located in D.C. so valuable. Arlington is only about 5 to 6 miles away from the heart of D.C., but would be an inferior location that may not draw as well.

What lmao? This arena isn't that old even
Northern Virginia is NOT a relocation. Hampton Roads Virginia would be a relocation.
I don't consider it a "relocation" when the franchise stays in the same metro area.
TCU = Trash Can University
The Commanders will not be going to the RFK stadium site, that property has already been spoken for
Leonsis tryna milk VA before the commanders can 😂
That lease extension is actually genius. Many a city has been duped by owners by not having solid enough lease terms
At this point Atlanta will be displeased with they're stadiums in 5 years or they'll leave.

Virginia Beach are better off as a potential expansion team. Both Washington DC teams ain’t going nowhere.
They could very likely still be Washington just all 3 move to northern Virginia to just outside of DC
The Wizards and Mystics should play in one Arena

I would love if both the commanders, capitals and wizards move to Arlington, VA. It would only be 5 miles from DC which isn’t that bad.

First they were called the Baltimore Bullets then Capital Bullets then then the Washington Bullets. Now Wizards. How about Capital Wizards?
Ha ha, you said biting the bullet
The Capital One arena formerly known as the MCI Center 1997-present, it’s time for the Wizards and NHL Capitals new arena.
This would not be considered a relocation. It's moving across a river.

hell no come back to Baltimore
Since the Sixers are getting a new Stadium, could that pave the way for a Flyers new Stadium?

All these teams want to move to better locations at the expense of taxpayers. Let these owners build stadiums on their own dime.
