I mean this isn’t true. If we straight up lose Draymond then it opens the door to being under the luxury tax next summer when Klay is off the books. Not saying that’s what will happen, but I seriously doubt Lacob and Dunleavy haven’t at least entertained that scenario considering how much has been spent on salary the last decade.

34/35yr old draymond with back issues last year and workplace violence this year wants more money than when he was in his prime …

it would be insane for even Sac to put up or shut up at more than his annual salary of 25/per for a person that had beef with one of their current stars and not in the same age range grouping

who else can put up or shut up for dray? sac is not back against the wall, they are the reverse of that.

for draymond — leaving the #1 viewed team who is on tv the most and his superstar trio to languish on a rising team where you are way older than everyone?

    3/70-75 is my guess

  3. Dynasty_30

Way too much for an aging and declining Draymond. Anything more than 3/80 is an overpay

  4. justinothemack

Who the hell is willing to pay draymond more than what he just turned down ?

  5. trackandfieldstar

Under a lower salary cap, Al Horford got $109M/4 (partial guarantee on the 4th year) when he was 33 y/o. A few years earlier, Paul Millsap signed a $90M/3 at 32 y/o.

Teams are clearly willing to pay versatile, high BBIQ forwards/bigs this kind of money into their 30s. Idk why everyone thinks Draymond is getting way less than the $90-100M contract that is being speculated in the media.

  6. _imposter_syndrome

There is no bigger fan of Draymond’s than me, but $33M a year for him at this stage in his career is fucking BONKERS.

  7. Difficult-Tip7928

So we just get fucked over next 3 years not being able to sign anyone else

Edit,: God I forgot how pathetic this damn sub is and filled with a bunch of kids.

  8. Pereise1

Yall really need to understand that there’s practically no benefit to Dray taking a low team friendly contract when he already took 2 in his prime. Paying him that much has practically no bearing on our ability to compete the next 2-3 years. It’s the same reason we paid Poole which got us possibly the best 6th man in the league instead of Poole’s albatross contract.

  9. PluggersLeftBall

just pay him for three years, thats our window anyway. we’re in cap hell whether or not we have draymond and lacob can make his money back after this run is over and we start rolling out 4 g leaguers every night

  10. pineapple_burrito

It makes sense to pay one of our core guys that brings leadership, energy, and versatility. Who else are you going to pay to replace him that gives us an immediate shot at a title with Curry?

  11. SG-2000

It is going to cost a lot. He knows he’s important. He likes money. Like when Iguodala shopped around and ended up with an extra year, which we traded a 1st to get out of.

When we throw out numbers like 3y/70m that is a fan’s best case scenario, not Dray’s.

  12. craigslistaddict

and ppl mocked me for saying $120M/5years… i think it’s actually better than $100M/3years, though. :p

$24M average salary with the last 4 years of the contract _after_ the new TV deal comes in (and also after klay’s new deal, whatever that winds up being), he’s not actually planning to play beyond 4 years so year 5 is deferred compensation and he starts at ~$20.5M which is ~15% of the cap, then the dollar number goes up but the percent comes down.

  13. Dull-Intention-7347

Warriors bidding against themselves. Don’t see any other NBA team willing to sign Green for 3/90.

  14. SummerGoal

The difference between a 3/70 range contract and 3/100 is sadly seismic when it comes to Lacobs bottom line. I know we don’t give a fuck about a billionaires money but it’ll impact our flexibility moving forward

  15. CarryOnUptheMorning

    He’ll be back ain’t no chance he’s not I’d guess it’s more 3 year 90 million though.

  16. sonegreat

If someone offers him that, I think the Warriors match. Otherwise, 3 for $80 is what I predicting.

  17. taygads

I genuinely don’t understand how, at this point, people are still questioning whether or not they’re bringing Draymond back lol there’s not a more open and shut ‘obviously’ in free agency than Draymond re-signing with the Warriors lol

  18. jtruth9

There is an obvious solution to this I haven’t seen anyone mention. Give him 3+1/$100Mil. Give him a player option his 4th year. If he wants that last 25 he can opt in and do a retirement tour while getting the Haslem treatment. That would keep the annual salary at 25/year which gives us a little more flexibility.

  19. JohnRambowski

Draymond literally said in his podcast that he’ll retire a warrior

  20. Wonderful-Media-2000

Nobody is willing to take less money to win not when u can get 10+ life times worth of money in a year just to play basketball. Draymond says he wants to stay a warrior but if another team offers him 10+ million more a year then we do he could easily leave.

  21. ExtensionFar3000

Only the Rockets, Spurs and Pacers can offer draymond that kind of contract out right. No doubt everyone loves money but something tells me he not going to teams that likely aren’t going to even sniff the 1st round next year.

Giving Draymond that huge of a deal will almost assure the warriors will hit the 2nd apron next year.

Warriors have on the books ~142 million for next year already without Draymond/Klay contracts. If Draymond gets 33/yr does anyone here honestly think Klay would take less?

The warriors aren’t going to throw away Paul’s 30 million salary slot either it makes no sense. They’ll try and trade Paul

  22. neo9027581673

The only issue I see coming with paying Dray 30M+ per year is you know Klay’s agent is going to be licking his chops and will insist on a max or damn near 40M+ per season since Dray is getting 30M+ a season.

  23. That really seems like an overpay because what other market is there for him?

I guess it doesn’t matter if Lacob is willing to pay him, but I feel like that’s an extra $10-15m a year that could go towards other guys like Moody and JK (and not dumping PBJ)

  24. KoRaZee

Draymond and Klay will be seeking maximum dollar contracts for themselves. These guys are trying to get paid and it’s only the fans who create the narrative about the veterans being mentors for the young players and at some point the vets step aside to let the young guys take over.

I love Klay and Dray am grateful for getting to watch them play and win for the warriors but looking back at how they talked about Poole and any of the younger players I wouldn’t say there was a ton of support. Those guys were brought in to replace the older players and it seems obvious looking back that they weren’t having it.

Unfortunately for us fans, we now see the writing on the wall about the future looking not so great. We’re going to sign Klay and Dray to big contracts and win or lose with these guys.

  25. RawrGeeBe

Warriors deserve their 1st round or play in tournament exit for the next 3 years if they’re stupid enough to give Draymond 3/$100 based on feelings and nostalgia. Guy was a liability in the playoffs for 2 seasons and the team was better when he sat on the bench.

Contract will be worst than Igoudola’s, but at least Igoudola was a good locker room presence. Rather role with a young guy.

  26. tiGerman74

no one can do what dray does in the league at his position, or even at any position. sign the guy and give him what he deserves and let’s go get another chip.

  27. chasin_derulo

If im dunleavy, i wont pay him shit. Let the market dictate his value.
