Tobias and his father have made it clear: they will go where the money is. LAC said hell no when his father asked for max and they subsequently traded Tobias to sixers and we gladly gave it to him. When Tobias contract is up you can bet he will go where the money and is and it will be an overpay. Rather than 1. Risk overpaying AGAIN or 2. Losing Tobias to another suitor, we have to trade him. Even if the haul is less than Tobias it needs to be done to avoid overpaying or losing him in 2024. UNLESS harden opts into one year deal. In which case we’ll have two max expirings and room for a max so we’ll prob want that space (summer of 2024)

He is just overpaid. Remove that from your brain and he is a great teammate and an “elite” fourth option. His contract hinders us from adding a piece I realize but he is a good player and a great human. I am glad he got paid after being a journeyman it was just a bad deal
