Imo Fred should take that deal, new tv deal in 2 years and cap will spike and big contracts will come into play as new CBA forces teams to use majority of their cap space. He will get another big offer even if he falls off a little

  4. mMounirM

the question now is how much does Fred want for a 3 or 4 year contract to beat this offer.

edit: quick maths he probably needs around 140/4. so just let him go

  5. Raptorsthrowaway1

    God damn. Good for him.

This forces us to deal Siakam? We have no route to getting a starting level PG otherwise?

  6. It-sOkBro

bro would be making more than a million for each fg%

Well, I don’t want him gone, but he’s probably going to take the money.

The only thing that will give him pause is that Houston won’t have bird rights after 2 years, and they’ll have to pay Green and Sengun. This is probably by design.

So Fred needs to look long and hard with his agent about what the market will look like in 2 years. He’s definitely going to be taking a paycut, but it’s a matter of how much and who is offering.

If he takes *any* deal with Toronto, it at least leaves the option of sign and trade to get him to a better destination if he wants to leave Toronto at that time.

To convince Fred to take a 3 or 4 year deal it’s gonna cost too much to top this, so we’re fucked

Good for Fred though, get that bag. That’s nearly the same amount of guaranteed money from his last contract but half the years.

I’m the rockets biggest supporter for the next few days

I cant believe we didnt try to flip him at the deadline. Such a missed opportunity.

I could see the Raps standing offer is 3 for 100.

Fred’s personal gamble will be if he can get 18 million or more after he finishes the Houston deal.

Actually, I’d say he’d need to get at least 20 million in a 3rd year deal following the Houston contract. The extra 2 million is minimum for uprooting his life and playing on an unfamiliar team.

It may seem obvious to take the Houston money, but it’s not uncommon for players like Fred to fall off hard with one injury. 20 million in year 3 is far from guaranteed.

  12. Fred should take this deal and I don’t want to pay him that much but this team will have zero PG once he leaves. I love Scottie and everything but he is not a PG. this team is going to have a putrid offense if they don’t find a way to acquire one and I have no idea how you do that when we don’t have a FRP to trade this year or next

How is the Rockets sub? Do they even want him?

  14. homemadejelly

Sucks if it’s another guy leaving without anything coming back in return.

  15. Chris_TO79

That’s crazy ass money for a guy with diminishing returns. I won’t be mad at him for taking the money and running.

    It’s been real Fred.

  16. YouDontJump

I’ve been a long proponent of re-signing Fred in the knowledge we could always move him at a later date, but if these are the types of numbers that are actually out there I say we just let him walk. That is insane.

  17. jeRskier

I love FVV and what he’s done for our team and our city. But he should take that deal.

Rockets front office on crack. They already have two ball dominant inefficient guards, why not add another one with all their cap space.

  19. everything_raptors

What are the rockets doing? They have jalen green and just drafted amen. Are they gonna start both along side FVV? Or are they gonna bring amen off the bench?

Yaa FVV is a good leader and all but they’re gonna stunt their guards growth by doing this
