[Toporek] .@WindhorstESPN: “I expect the Sixers’ offer to be considerably higher [than Harden’s $35.6M player option], whatever number of years it is.” “… He could get up to four years. I’m sure Philadelphia, with a 33-year-old, would like it shorter.”

Sorry the best I can do is 2 guaranteed with a third option. I enjoy watching Harden as he is the best PG we have had since AI but anything guaranteed beyond 2 would be crippling as much as Tobi.

It better not be more than two years

    We’re so fucked.

Morey on the verge of selling out the franchise to try and revive his buddy’s reputation.

Why are we bidding against ourselves here? No cap team would offer him that much or the years, and none of them are contending right now. Offer him the PO to find trade partner or small bump on a 1+1. Locking him up long term will only help if it’s a declining scale or has a TO on the last year.

Some of you are delusional. He’s getting 3 minimum, likely 4. With 35-45m AAV. If we can get the last year non guaranteed or partially guaranteed that would be a huge win

  6. ABagOfPopcorn

They’re gonna give harden a huge deal and then not resign mcdaniels, and will try to win us back over with a jevon carter FA signing

  7. dday3000

Tobias Harris all over again. Bidding against ourselves.

I’m exhausted. Why can’t he just buy in already and we put all our focus on Tobias trade and improving the team?

The money is a secondary concern to the length of the contract. I’d be fine giving him a max if it was 2 years. 4 year contract would be pretty brutal at any price.

bro just fuckin let him walk or sign and trade his ass. we don’t need to be signing shitty contracts again

I would love to see 3 years, $100 mil instead of 2 years $90 mil. It would be beneficial to keep him at less of a cap hit per year. Like most fans, I’m not in love with Harden but there is simply no better option available.

Elton and Daryl trying to outbid each other.

should we overpay him more than we need to? no

is there a concern that if he ultimately has to take a deal he doesnt love, he will check out mentally and torpedo our season? his track record says yes.

if hes happy, he might still get hurt/we might underperform, but we’re likely going to get his best effort

if hes unhappy, id say theres a 99% chance our season is going down the drain

The most I would offer Harden is 3/120. If he doesn’t want that he is welcome to explore signing with another team.

4 yrs, $160 mil will end up being close to Tobi’s and Ben’s as worst contracts in league. We are lucky Tobi is expiring – would be nice to not be strapped with another bad one immediately. Unfortunately I have no confidence in them to get a team friendly deal, especially when Harden took less last year.

They are screwed either way. If they bring him back, he is older, has some security with a longer deal, and can do basically anything he wants if he doesn’t get his way like he did at the end of Houston and in Brooklyn. If they sign him to a deal he isn’t happy with, he likely gets moody and lazy.
If they don’t bring him back, they have no money to sign anyone else.

is there any chance he gets better at finishing at the rim? that’s my only problem with him

I just can’t get past the guy quitting in the playoffs when it mattered. He strikes me as the type who knows he doesn’t have much in the tank left and wants one more payday. If he gets the payday, since winning a title obviously doesn’t matter to him, will we get anything close to the same effort from last year?

He did seem to try last year, but I wonder if that was just because he wanted to get paid, not a hunger to win.

Thanks morey you definitely would’ve gave Harris that shit contract if you were here back then

Daryl Moreys unwavering love for Harden is going to be our ultimate undoing
