  1. There is no way Brooklyn let's Cam Johnson walk and they are likely to match any offer even if it mean overpaying. This year team's only have 24hrs to match offers to restricted free agents which means most GM's will match and worry about moving the player down the road if they aren't thrilled with overpaying to keep their options open.

Cam was a major piece in the KD deal so they arent going to part with him without getting something in return. Which means the Pistons two options for getting him would be dramatically overpaying and hoping it is too much to match or a sign & trade. Any sign & trade would mean giving up someone fans value &/ or draft capital which we dont really have any of when considering we owe the Knicks a future 1st still. You are not getting Cam Johnson for Wiseman, Bagley, Burks, Hayes or any combination of those players.

If you over pay you run the risk of him being the Pistons version of Jordan Poole somebody who got too much from their extension and a guy the team needs to move to avoid the CBA's new luxury tax penalties when you figure max contracts for Cunningham, potentially Ivey &/or potentially for Duren could be coming in a few years.

  2. It’s a nice idea. I don’t know how that works in the NBA, but I’d at least hold the Nets feet to the fire. Make them scramble.

  3. If Cam outright tells the Nets he doesn’t want to be in Brooklyn than that will certainly motivate them to sign and trade, however, I think Cam does want to be a Net so I’d say our chances of actually getting him is pretty slim. Nets can make some moves to get off money to loosen reaching that second floor.

  4. The question is does Troy Weaver have the balls to make that deal?? Cuz he’s a build through the draft type of guy, and get cheap in free agency.
