It's like comparing comparing an old ferrari and an old ferrari, both are fast but the newer ones got more functions and extras because the technology has evolved. It also applies to these great players, all are great but different eras, playstyles. Technologies and resources has also evolved, better nutrition, maintenance and efficiency in minimizing body degradation. So, it is easy to say newer greats are more better shooters and faster but that's how the game has evolved, same as saying older players are more tough and physical but that's what was needed in that era. Better that we just try to appreciate their contribution to the basketball world and stop discrediting anyone.
I love Legs and usually agree with most points he makes, and obviously won’t claim to know more ball than him. I also – on a personal note – detest Chris Paul as a player (been a Warriors fan for half my life so been rooting against CP for just as long – I almost want him to lose more than I want the Dubs to win 😅). BUT in this case, I think the critique about play style is a bit overblown. Our best backup PG for years was S Dot, who played a totally different brand of ball than Steph/Klay/Draymond. He played in the post, was the Midrange Maestro, got D West shots at the free throw line extended with their little 2-man action, etc. So I don’t think having a different style of play for a second unit is necessarily automatically a bad thing. Just gotta wait and see what other pieces we can bring in to complement CP on that second unit, because right now we don’t have that. Should be looking for at least one more 3-and-D guy and an athletic rim running, shot-blocking big on minimum deals to round things out.
So glad GS traded wanna be Curry, Poole! He always tried so hard and made mistakes every time. So happy Pooles gone and gonna bring back Drey.
