Hello everyone. Christian Wood does make a lot of sense from an offensive standpoint. Claxton already provides the defensive component and given Ben Simmons is currently in the second unit having Wood operate as a offensive center while Ben Simmons plays point guard could be a more balanced combo…
More importantly if Brooklyn wants to utilize Ben Simmons strengths more then pairing him with a backup center whose more offensive oriented could be very beneficial. Christian Wood Jonas Valanciunas and Kelly olynyk would be some good options to pair with Simmons…
Now let's address the Karl Anthony Towns rumors. Given the insane amount of money owed to KAT Gobert ahd Reid Towns looks like the obvious person to get traded this season or the following.
KAT is one of the best big men scorers in the league who unfortunately has defensive issues that mask some of the good he provides on offense.
However Brooklyn has the defensive pieces to protect KATs defensive miscues and allow him to operate on his strengths more. Nic Claxton especially would be a better center for KAT then Gobert because Claxton is more versatile and flexible defensively and can guard 1-5 on the court.
Having Claxton defense could allow KAT to focus more on rebounding the ball and applying extra pressure at the rim.
Something Brooklyn could explore next season….
Also Andre Drummond is someone who wasn't mentioned as a backup center option. He is still one of the best rebounders in the league and was a double double machine during his time in Brooklyn. He would be a great backup option for Claxton during the regular season and can help Brooklyn address their length and rebounding issues….
As an huge fan of the Brooklyn Nets, I'm always "Locked On Nets"! 👌🏾 Adam's takes as a pseudo-GM for the Nets is something I genuinely admire. Generally, I find myself in agreement with most of his viewpoints. Nevertheless, it's quite entertaining to notice how Sean Marks, the official GM, often takes a different approach from Adam's recommendations.
