From the nba community on Reddit: [Stein] It has reached the point when I speak to various teams that it would be a legitimate leaguewide surprise now if Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks don’t strike verbal agreements to join the Houston Rockets by Friday night.

And this might be where the cracks start to show in Stone’s tenure as GM. Signing someone like Brooks is the last thing we should be doing with all of these impressionable young players.

    Unfortunate

FVV is fine but will be overpaid big time

Brooks is just an absolute shit show

  3. guapmuffin

Many still butt hurt at brooks antics and blind to see the defensive gift he would be to our roster at this dirt cheap price. That tenacity is exactly what we want shared with our impressionable youth

22-60 record, beggars can’t be choosers and a 2 year contract is nothing. Just sets us up to be in the same fat salary cap position in a year or two, except when FA will be much better

Oh man, Brooks being the worst player to watch aesthetically in the nba, joining an offense that was last year one of the worst to watch in the nba is wild

Really curious to know what becomes of our Guard rotation if these signings happen.

    PG: FVV – Amen – Tyty ???

    SG: Jalen – Brooks – KPJ – Josh ???

Stone your under surveillance buddy pls stop being ass outside drafting.

In my eyes, at his price point, Brooks is a steal.

If he works out, great. If he doesn’t, get rid of him.

If he plays out of his mind… He’s trade bait at the deadline.

    Win/Win/Win

Would be nice to actually land free agents right at the start. Shows we aren’t just the last choice

  9. I’m OK with it. I imagine these will be short-term deals. Gives them both a chance to cash out and prove themselves for another payday.

Raps fan here throwing my two cents in about Fred.

This is a great deal for Fred and Houston. He had a bad shooting year last year but your getting a solid leader, solid defender and under rated passer / table setter. With needing to spend 90% of the cap and the deal being for 2 years there is virtually no risk.

Yesssss please! I know a lot of people don’t like Brooks but we need an mfer on this team that the rest of the league hates, we have missed it since pat bev.

Just give me Fred, he is dope and if we have the money for a short term like that bring it in. See if he has a CP3 effect on the guys. We can get energy and whatever from another SF not Brooks.

We were the worst shooting team in the league last year and our solution was to draft a dude who shot 23% against children and add the two least efficient chuckers in the league to huge deals. Fucking fade me this is the most hopeless I’ve ever felt as a fan.

Sengun finna average 2 assisper game.
