Love it. Been wanting him since Detroit. Assuming it’s BAE money, this is a great low risk signing

  2. LukaDoncic-

Drummond could be a great mentor for Lively. Very similar play style. Sounds good to me.

  3. hurricanesznsover

Meh. I can’t be excited where just like Wood his stats have meant absolutely nothing everywhere he’s gone, and no one wants him.

  4. WalkerTejasRanger

Hopefully it would be for the vet min. If so fine, not like his rebounding wouldnt be very useful at times next year. Also probably means they expect McGee and/or holmes to be gone.

  5. ChuckMoody

Unless Lively is a stud from the start Lively/Holmes/Drummond isn‘t that much better than what we had last year

  6. Fivefootdirk

IF it’s backup role and nobody “promised” him starter minutes, it’s short term for low $$, and McGee is gone…I’ll can live with this.

Man, mavs really do circle back to get their guy about 5/6 too late lol

  7. ElonMuskHeir

Whoa. What? I like this, a lot. A Drummond, Lively rotation at the 5 seems way better than Powell, and McGee.

  8. ButtWrangler44

Holmes and Drummond man in 2021 this sub would have busted loads all over this sub if this happened then

  9. Fatman214

He can rebound and defend a little bit so I’m with it

  10. dantheflyingman

I don’t understand this. How is this different than McGee?

The team has Lively, McGee and Holmes on the roster, and no starting center. Why would the team sign another backup big?

  11. GoTimeShowtime

If he takes a cent over the BAE this is a disaster

  12. jfrodriguez1983

I had been against Drummond so much when there were trade rumors a few years back, but he has turned himself into a decent backup since then. Would be a decent part of a center rotation. Hopefully for the minimum or if we get BAE at most.

  13. segson9

If we get another starting center it’s a good move. He’d be a good 2nd/3rd (depending how quick Lively develops) center.

  14. domingodlf

As long as it’s not the MLE this is a good signing. Our biggest issue is rebounding rn and he’s an excellent rebounder still

  15. Trigliceratops

The Dallas Mavericks eternal obsession with centers continues.

  16. lario00

I hope the wait to make a move, and see if they can move any of the other centers.

  17. MastaMayne

Javale 2.0. Not good at anything else but rebounding. Not sure what this helps

  18. btk7710

This likely means Powell, McGee or Holmes are gone. We ain’t keeping five centers lol.

  19. DannyDeBMO

If we can get him on a min, keep the mle, and dump McGee I’m cool with this. But we don’t need to just add another old big

  20. Kball4177

Bruh…they haven’t learned a thing from last season. Promissing another washed up big man a spot is just so bizarre.

  21. TheBassOfClubs

WE GOT OUR GUY. WE ALWAYS GET OUR GUY (a few years later when they’re dog water)

  22. MahomesMccaffrey

New salary floor rule kinda helps the Mavs.

No longer have to wait until trade deadline to get rid of McGee or Holmes.

Both contracts are not large, easily allow teams to fill the poverty line

  23. cypherdust

I like it. We dont have to spend $30 million per year to get 10 rebounds a game. This is better than getting Ayton

  24. Powpowpowowowow

People can shit on him but I saw way more effort and promise from Drummond than ever from Mcgee. Drummond is slightly younger, he sets legit amazing screens, and he gets an insane amount of boards.

  25. daRealMater

What a nice addition to our washed center collection

  26. jd_beats

I just… fuck, man, I don’t understand this FO at all.

Trade KP for peanuts… questionable but after making a WCF run without a legit big on the roster it’s fine… then immediately turn around the next offseason and use important roster building resources on multiple big men (that are worse than KP), have an underwhelming season where you trade almost everything “expendable” for an expiring star point guard instead of a better big even though that’s the role Luka fills, and then this offseason after spending serious draft resources on **another** big you’re linked to trade rumors for Ayton whose presence helped you beat the Suns last playoffs and then are still considering using FA money for a center as underwhelming as Drummond?

Like, 1) did we learn nothing from making a deep playoff run with just wings and versatile forwards around Luka? And 2) Did we learn nothing from last offseason’s crappy attempts at adding PFs and Cs?

  27. stilexx

In Nico we trust. If hes getting backup C he better have plan.

  28. complex_c203

What actually happened to dummond? He fell off pretty abruptly.

  29. Jackiesaldivar

I honestly think we should have included Green in a package for Capela

  30. YoStepWithLuka77

Y’all the mavs were last in rebounding and second chance points, this is strictly for crashing the boards and suring up that department

  31. butcher_of_blaviken1

JaVale McGee has to be sweating real hard right now

  32. Good cheap sign, i said a couple weeks ago he’d be a good addition. Defense is only gettin better:)):):):):)

  33. alextheruby

Dude is a rebound machine. Please yes!!!

  34. DFWSportsFan19

Can’t wait til Kidd gets us in trouble for tampering…”man we’ve been talking to Dre since before the season ended on joining us”

  35. FinancialRabbit388

I’m gonna let everything play out before I lose my shit over this, but this has Cuban’s fingerprints all over it.

  36. ExcellentJuice4729

We went from zero front court to a plethora of options

  37. PM_ME_UR_RESPECT

If we can get him in a backup situation where he can go in for like 10 mins a game and grab us some rebounds, I’m all for it.

  38. AceBricka

I liked all the mavericks moves this off-season until this one. Too many centers that do the exact same thing and almost a repeat of what we did last year

  39. hurricanesznsover

I’d start him but still have him playing 23-25 minutes a game. You can sub him out early for DLII or Holmes and go a little “smaller”.

  40. All i remember about drummond is that he was on and episode of Blippi, hes an awesome rebounder and would be a perfect fit in dallas

  41. desirox

This is what we should have done last year. Glad to see they’re learning from their mistakes

  42. ramoramo2000

What’s joke this guy was getting Dnps for the Chicago ducking Bulls and we pick him just like McGee. Washed up old bums who cat contribute on offence and defence. McGee couldn’t do 1 thing well, at least Drummond Rebounds. But still HORIBBLE NEWS
