Hope everybody is hanging in there during another post-disappointment offseason. Been meaning to do one of these for a bit, a number of big life events got in the way — I wouldn’t recommend closing on a house mid-playoffs as a professional writer, personally, though it was absolutely worth missing the 0-3 start of last season for my honeymoon.
I will try to pop back in to start answering questions around 3 p.m. Eastern, so let them rip and I’ll try to get to as many as I can. Who knows, maybe something newsworthy will happen in the meantime.
If you’re not familiar with my work or dislike me because you were a Prokafor, let’s get acquainted or bury the hatchet. Come say hi:

Kyle what is the best low key sandwich spot in Philly
Also love your work!
First of all – great work!
What do you believe the most likely offseason moves will be? Also, what are you general thoughts on Nurse’s impact on the team this upcoming season VS what we had with Doc.
What are the general locker room vibes like? Do the other players like Harden? Is Tobias the glue or is he overrated in that department? And Doc implied that Embiid should spend more time around his teammates off the court, is that true?
Given all the stuff that happened with, let’s say, questionable reporting by a certain someone last week, how do you recommend Sixers fans parse through all the information that is out there? How do we know what is real trustworthy player movement information, or what should we look for?
Was there ever a trade/signing/transaction that you thought was going to for sure go through that didn’t? Be as specific as you can 🙂
Great work also! Love your stuff.
How did the clap your hands podcast come about? Why ESP of all people?
Hi Kyle, always love reading your work. Are you anticipating a greater than usual amount of movement in the league this season as teams accommodate for the new CBA?
after Nurse’s intro presser, people joked about how different Toronto media treated Nurse vs Philly’s media.
do you think different markets/cities have different personalities when it comes to covering the NBA?
Kyle what is the window for this current team and when should the Sixers think about hitting reset?
If Harden returns to the Sixers, how do you envision Nurse using him differently than Doc? And similarly, do you envision any changes with Harden + Maxey’s usage under Nurse?
Thanks for doing this Kyle!
During your time covering the team, what players have 1. surprised you the most, and 2. disappointed you the most?
Out of players/personnel no longer on the team, who do you miss being able to interact with?
Hi Kyle – love your work and your often candid takes. I imagine you get to a lot of games and have become accustomed to the WFC and all of its intricacies. What are some “best experience” suggestions that you would make to someone that only goes to a game every so often?
Kyle,
You’re probably my go-to Sixers insider/writer. How often do you check this subreddit for the hottest, dipshit takes of all time? My hope is you come here and just laugh at the ridiculous proposals and roast everyone.
Out of curiosity, what was the real reason you asked the infamous “Paul Reed victory tour” question?
You’ve been doing this long enough to realize that no sane coach is going to answer a question that verifies a possible major change in their playoff rotations after the last game of the regular season. Playoff series victory margins are paper thin, so an opposing coach planning to make the most out of the 12 minutes Embiid is on the bench is definitely going to want to know if they’ll be facing DAJ or Paul Reed. I realize Doc had his own “would you ask Pop this question” meme, but if we’re being honest, Pop would have looked at you like you were insane if you asked him that question at that specific time.
Doc answered/ducked the question about as ungracefully as he could have (as usual), but I don’t think he was wrong to withhold that information. Was this simply a case of you not looking at it from this angle, you not thinking it was a big deal, or you realizing Doc would fumble the question horribly and knowing it would give you a week of content and engagement. Not only was the answer spicy, but the subject is a person that this sub and most of social media has a massive boner for.
I like your work overall and mean no disrespect, but I’ve always questioned this specific situation.
What’s your personal favorite Sixers story to share?
Kyle! Huge fan. You are a big reason I cancelled the athletic recently. My question is about “sources” and reporting on things you hear versus things you know. When other beat reporters are claiming to have information that seems suspect, or worse, just seem like pure BS, what is your process for confirming those reports? Are there times you see something reported and know it’s absolutely false? I love the articles you put out that focus on multiple rumors at once, you do a good job of rounding everything up and that’s where my question stem from.
Thanks!
How often do you go off the record with players, coaches, and front office? And how juicy are those sound bites when you are off record?
Not sure if you’ve seen the questions in the announcement post, so I’ll copy mine over.
So far during your time covering the Sixers, was there a particular year where the quality of the chicken fingers stood out?
If you were planning a trip to Topgolf with other local sportswriters, who would make up the rest of your foursome?
Who’s the most famous person you have in your phone (basketball AND non basketball)??
What did we do to deserve this?
Sometimes beat writers seem to get inside information from the front office and are the first to relay that information to the public. Can you speak a little about how communication works between writers and the FO behind the scenes?
Was the Halliburton trade possibility a real thing or just a made up rumor?
Do you think anybody on the team or in the FO has twitter burners
Kyle:
Appreciate your work.
For or against the 76Place project?
