Feels like a throwaway comment to me , low risk high reward for Windy

The vagae nature doesn’t help too much, but with that said windy, Love him or hate him, is one of the most plugged in guys in the league and he’s been on top of all the trades and a lot of the movement so far the soft season. I’m guessing he’s probably heard of us being interested in / likely to pull off a free agent signing people are sleeping on or don’t think we could accomplish like attracting a Brook Lopez/ Harrison Barnes type willing to play mentor to the kiddos.
Either way, I’m actually pretty excited for the offseason just because I think the Spurs could go and somebody directions

This sounds more hyperbolic than anything. He glossed over it way too fast to be taken any other way other than an example of a team with a lot of cap space “surprising“ people.

Honestly, not because he said it but because it basically has to happen. I have a feeling spurs will make a trade for a good vet on an the last year or two of a bad contract that a team needs to move.

I mean resigning Jak would be a shock to the league or maybe we trade for Ayton? Pop could rebuild him and have him at center next to Wemby
Other than trading for Lillard idk what it could be

I don’t think that was so much a “oh, I’m hearing the Spurs are making a huge move.” as much as “Well, the Spurs are gonna do something, but seeing it’s the Spurs, we probably don’t know what it is and it’ll probably be against the grain.”

This again could be just speculation but it is worth mentioning that right before both the John Collins trade and the Boston Celtics trade windy Pretty much said something very similar along the lines of ” Just you wait, they’res a surprise coming I have it on good word” I wouldn’t be surprised if he hadn’t heard something substantial as far as interest is concerned at the very least.

Calling my shot:
Spurs bring in Grant Williams on a cheaper than expected contract to be a small 5 off the bench. He’ll man up against posts and have Wemby behind him as help.
On offense, Williams will mainly act to spread the court. He was 39% on catch and shoot 3s and 46% on pull ups last year. He hit 41% of this threes when wide open. He hit 42% from the corners.
