James Wiseman is an Analytical Nightmare For Detroit Pistons..

James Wiseman was the 2nd pick by the Golden State Warriors in 2020 but has failed to live up to his expectations. After three frustrating years for a contending team, James was traded to the Detroit Pistons. However, receiving more playing time did not suddenly make him a better player. He continues to struggle defensively, lacks screening and communication skills, and possesses a low basketball IQ. These crucial basketball features are simply lacking in James Wiseman’s game. Overall, the situation is quite challenging for him.

  1. 4:01 to be fair that wasn't a bad pass more than a person with awful hands. Because they could have grab and went straight up with that if they could catch one handed. if you call for the pass like that super annoying be ready for the pass. He wasn't. That guy needs to get in the lab and work on catching 1 handed. Yes the pass could have been better but for a professional basketball player not in high school that was a ok pass.

  2. I think the biggest issue is wisemen was drafted to high. There's just too much pressure and fear of being a bust is crippling. It's weird because the warriors just got chris paul and that would be one of the best things to happen to him. He's not a number one guy. He doesn't have drive and hunger to fix his problems. Even without playtime he should have got use to seeing HOW players work. How to be a professional how to watch tape. He had time to pick one of the two best defenders in the modern history of the NBA yeah. Your going to think I'm crazy saying this but gp2 is one of the best defenders in modern nba history and its a crime his career got so derailed by his height. the second one being draymond green. A lot of what he's doing is lack of basics. basics he was suppose to be working on. playtime or not he should "on paper" look good. he doesn't. He plays like a guy who didn't need to know the basics and expects to be doing whatever he wants and shocks he can't. That people are just as big and talent. That culture shock is what he got his first year and I'm not sure why he's still in this culture shock phase. The type of mistakes you want him to be making is a little too greedy a little too hungry and that isn't his mistakes. Now, it could be a "wiggins" where greed wasn't wiggins problem but coaching was. The problem is Wisemen had REALLY good coaching. He had good solid development even without major playtime mins. He just never applied it. Example the "Screening" action where he screens awful. That's a fixable thing, that's a little touch thing. That's something he could have worked on and been better at but he screens like he's going into a duffle bag and it's all for show and not an actual move. I get the feeling that wisemen doesn't care. And it shows.

  3. James Wiseman is, has been, and always will be, A WALKING MINUS in +/-. James Wiseman has the basketball IQ of a carrot and the WORST HANDS in the league. If he plays significant minutes this season, HE'LL SET A RECORD for NEGATIVE +/-. Watch. …GO DUBS! #DubDynasty

  4. Warriors should have just drafted lamelo due to their small ball system and fast phase of play

  5. James Wiseman has all the physical gifts necessary to be a phenomenal basketball player. Unfortunately, he still lacks the basketball IQ, experience, and mindset to deliver on all of that potential. Maybe he figures it out? However, at this pace I can understand teams growing frustrated with him. I think he was drafted too early, he should still be in G League right now.

  6. A certified bust. He dont effin deserve to play baskerball. He should try shifting sports now.

  7. Really Wish we kept Bey as opposed to trading for Wiseman. Wiseman can have a future on the Detroit Pistons as a backup Center. But as a die hard Pistons fan I want to see Duren get the starting Center spot. Duren really gives me a lot of hope and if healthy I think Duren can be the CENTER of Detroits Future. Wiseman could be a bench peice still. I think the Pistons starting five should be 1. Ivey 2. Cade 3. Ausar 4. Beef Stew 5. Duren

  8. 'Be patient' is a very interesting thing with these young guys. They have 4 years on rookie contract and then they want an extention. And if you have put your trust in a wrong guy – then you are stuck with large contract that is crutial for your team and hurting the team in general. Here comes the question – how patient you must be after 3 years, really? I am not talking about Wiseman only

  9. The warriors depth back in 2022 season are the people who left next season. The whole roster got dismantled just because of Poole wanting to get the 💰, then he cant live up to it.

  10. Biggest issue is he has played less games during his 3 year rookie contract than he has missed, because of a meniscus injury, two surgeries, ankle injuries, etc. He was allowed to start 27 of his first 39 games in 2020-21 and wasn’t great, but he was improving when he got that devastating injury. Tried to come back for 2022 playoff run but his knee swelled up.

Flash forward to 2022-23 season, having missed 140+ consecutive Warriors games, and about 20 months since he played an NBA game. They ease him into G-league play, and so many ignorant fans calling for him to start and how the warriors are “holding him back” and other nonsense. Wiseman played some G-league, misses games to some injuries, makes tons of mistakes, is not useful the first half of the season and even in best case scenario, more than a year away from NBA ready for a contender, so Warriors trade him.

So how is this anybody’s fault?

  11. For warriors:
    2020/21: played 39, missed 43
    2021/22: played 0, missed 104
    2022/23: played 21, missed 35
So played in only 60 of possible 242 games for Warriors, mostly because meniscus injury, though his final season, they sent him to G-league some, he had couple nagging injuries, ankle, knee swelling, etc.

Not his fault, but he is starting from ground zero with Pistons. Give him a chance.

His low motor and slow uptake on defensive principles does concern me though.
