Raptors reporter Josh Lewenberg joins Jay Onrait to discuss the Houston Rockets reported interested in Raptors’ Fred VanVleet, and how much of a blemish on the resume it would be if Masai Ujiri can’t pull off a sign-and-trade for VanVleet and the Raptors lose him for nothing.

First! I know Houston can give Fred the $$$ bag but he is a guy that wants to win. I would be surprised if he signs there.
Raptors need to tank this season, win the 2024 draft lottery, select Bronny James 1st overall in the 2024 draft then sign Lebron James in free agency.
Fred Vanvleet is going to become the first player in NBA history where his annual salary in millions is higher than his FG%. 😅😅
Man honestly Poetl I don’t blame him because they’re trying move Pascal, so why would he sign a long term deal here… if his boy is not here. But FVV can kick rocks like dude is brutal I’m not paying 40 million for a guy who can’t run team and shoots 39% from the field.
Lmao. Raptors bias here. Raptors are nowhere close to contending. They lost their coach, Siakim on his way out, and they don't land free agents like that. Rockets can pay FVV the most, Rockets also have other money to spend in FA, Rockets got the coach that the Raptors wanted (Udoka even implied the Raptors situation was mid), and Rockets just killed the draft with Amen and Whitmore to go with their core of Green, Sengun, Jabari, Tari, and KPJ. Raptors have no leverage unless they offer FVV a four year deak between 120-130, which would be foolish on their part. Raptors front office should have been making trades last season at the deadline.
