While Pacers fans fumed at their franchise for not taking Trayce Jackson-Davis during Thursday’s 2023 NBA Draft, new reports add a different perspective to the situation. Jalen Hood-Schifino, meanwhile, heads to a Lakers team that he grew up watching as Kobe Bryant fan.
On today’s episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) is joined by guest Jared Gosule (@Oh_My_Gos) to offer analysis on the two new Hoosiers to join the NBA. In joining the Warriors, Jackson-Davis turned down two-way deals from a number of teams in the second round, including the Pacers.
Hood-Schifino grew up a Kobe fan in Pittsburgh, including announcing his commitment to Indiana University in a Bryant jersey on Kobe Day on 8/24. In heading out to Los Angeles, he lands with a franchise with a history of developing talent and in a situation he could excel in.
The show wraps by looking at the state of the IU program and the momentum behind it. After sending two players to the NBA this year, the Hoosiers could continue that momentum with both Mackenzie Mgbako and Kel’el Ware projected to be drafted in 2024 as well.

CP3 & TJD Pnr is going to be elite. Trayce is the type of big that Warrior fans have been clamoring for.
