[Charania] Sources: The NBA Board of Governors will vote on July 11 to approve two changes that would begin in the 2023-24 season: – In-game penalty for flops resulting in technical foul free throw (trial basis) – A second coach’s challenge awarded if first challenge is successful

Marcus Smart is finished in this league.

Can’t wait for the flop penalty to be enforced for the first 10 games of the season and then forgotten for the rest of the season

  3. GMPhatRiley

Will they actually enforce these flopping rules though?

  4. Brady331

Flop rule will be called harshly to start then called once every 15 games after that

Can’t wait for flopping to be punishes for two weeks and then forgotten

  6. How long will refs follow this rule until they don’t care

  7. iPingMozambique

How they thought one challenge even if successful was a good idea is mind bogglingly stupid.

Terrible year to have cp3 and Draymond on your team

I doubt we’ll see many flopping technicals called, but even if it’s occasional and inconsistent that’s still an improvement over nothing

I’m assuming the definition of a flop will have to pretty conservative. Exaggerating contact shouldn’t be considered a flop. Reacting to zero contact should be a flop.

Flop rule will not be enforced at all. Most nba stars flop to a certain extent. Gonna hurt the $.

  12. heshouldgo

They actually gotta enforce it consistently and not just for a month

  13. hossman3000

Just review the flops after each game and make anyone who flops the previous game wear a prison stripes jersey the next game.

James Harden get ready to learn Chinese buddy

  15. doubleb_43

I hope they’ll be consistent with flop calls. Not doing this for 2 weeks only and then completely forgetting about it.

  16. bomonty18

Wow. They actually listening to fan base?

  17. KajAmGroot

This sucks, we just got Chris Paul and now he is going to be useless

  18. ratonbox

They won’t ever call a flop on LeBron.

  19. The_Aught

The challenges need to be handled by someone who is not in the reffing crew.

  20. am I the only one who enjoyed Jokic’s retaliatory flops on Lebron?

  21. stalkmeo1

Should really get unlimited coaches challenge if the previous challenge is successful. What a dumb way to cover Ref’s fuck ups by only limiting to 2 challenges 🤡

  22. optometrist-bynature

Refs are often fooled by flops during games. The league needs to penalize players after games for flops based on video review. Fines or even suspensions if players accumulate enough flops.
