The Toronto Raptors Are About To Face A MAJOR Problem..

It appears as though the Fred VanVleet era in Toronto is over after multiple reports confirm a MASSIVE contract offer on the table that the Raptors simply cannot match. The Houston Rockets have offered the point guard a 2-year deal worth a whopping $83.6 million to join a new team for the first time in his career. The Raptors could offer a 4-year deal in the range of $130 million to try and compete with Houston’s terms, but that likely is too much to seriously consider offering the player at the length of time.

All signs were pointing toward Masai Ujiri and new head Darko Rajakovic wanting to put this team in place to have a successful season and try to compete for an NBA championship but this puts a major dent in that plan. As much as the Raptors can find new point guards to fill the void, there is no point guard available that can actually replace the value that Fred VanVleet brought to Toronto.

Regardless it is another piece of the Raptors 2019 championship roster that has left for nothing in free agency. With Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby unlikely to sign an extension they could also walk at the end of this season. The future of the Toronto Raptors is perilous, to say the least..

  1. Gonna miss fred. He really made himself so he earned it. He had his slumps. But he helped get us a championship. Sucks that he walks for nothing though.

  2. i agree with ya the team is not better without fred there, since getting yak the fred and yak pick and roll was amazing to watch, if scottie gets full time pg duties can he find that chemistry with yak? also when scottie did get pg duties this past season he had a lot of turnovers and was not able to control the team. I think bringing back trent was a huge mistake because trent has no defense and if his shots are not falling then trent is a liability atleast with fred when his shots are not falling he still plays defense. AND even then if scottie is our full time pg for this season we still have a problem of who will be our backup because flynn and banton still hasnt shown us that they can be that player to come in and provide productive minutes consistently

  3. Scottie better be ready this year. Better be on his Kobe shit and stop passing and be a true ball hog. 18 shots a game minimum.

  4. Do we really think Scottie can’t shoot barnes can the the true pg. He turns the ball over a lot when he’s the ball handler in the half court.

  5. Like I said every vid I had know to time to do so today I thought but I made sure I did

  6. Scottie will NOT be bringing up the ball like a traditional PG.
He will instead be used and should be used ala-Sabonis and/or Jokic.

  7. Fred shot 39% last year and 34 % from 3, his offense is extremely overrated. Very inefficient and poor finisher at the rim. He is league average at best.

  8. 5:50 Problem with out FVV??? The friggn guy throws all young players under the bus… Post game no accountability, hard to replace? Bruv are you under a rock? Go to your homework on @mrNewYork who they just signed. Watch his shit! I don't want no Vincent here!!! MANS NOT A PASS FIRST PLAYER fuq that! … All you overnight YouTubers talking shit like you guys have insight stfu

  9. Didn't Masai say that the trades that were available to them during the past season will be available in the summer? This is going to a serious test of that resolve.

  10. Let see, Dowtin can do it, he’s fast, can shoot and have a good judgment. Good luck to FVV- he really got a good offer…

  11. Remember Masai and the Raptors said, "We are confident we can resign FVV"?

    🤭🤭🤭

  12. I think this is the perfect time for Jeff Dowtin and possibly Flynn as a trial by fire at PG. And there's Scottie as PG too.

  13. 3 more hrs dude! we have to realizetaking back fred's contract will handcuff TOR moving forward. OG/GTJ/Siakam extensions way more imp then binging back fred

  14. It's not really a problem .. don't pay him. If you want to be stuck in mediocrity try to match that offer. Raptors seem to be playing a long game here with no draft equity in 2024 and with the hire of their head coach who is about player development with how the roster is currently situated. There is nothing wrong with letting Fred go even though it will be a huge gap at the PG position but perhaps Flynn could step in the slot and develop. What if they start GTJ at pg and insert Grady Dick right away at SG? who knows but Fred is not the answer to another title.

  15. To be fair to the front office – there's nothing we could have done about Green and Leonard walking for free. It was either go all in for a chip or move them at the deadline, which wasn't going to happen because the whole point of the deal was to contend for a chip. So that's no fault of theirs.

They should be held responsible for the rest though. From not moving Serge and Marc to the trade for Young to the Downtin situation. I also think they overpaid for Poeltl, didn't move FVV and Siakam at the deadline. Honestly, after 2019, things have been night and day with this front office. Just find them to be extremely reactive and slow to the punch when before they used to be proactive and ahead of the pack

  16. Please move him, he is a 2 not a PG. To selfish. Would be awful if we have to deal with that ego.

  17. What's that old Cinderella song from the late 80's, "You don't know what you got, Till its gone"…

  18. MU has really messed up again. Should have moved Fred at the trade deadline.
He now has a huge history of players walking for nothing

  19. What’s this guy talking about?!?? Barnes is already a better PG than FVV. FVV is not a PG, he’s a short and slow SG.

  20. It is what it is. Would have been nice to get something for him at the trade deadline last season, but It's going to be nice not having to watch this dude dribble the hell out of the ball then make a poor decision at the end of the shot clock.

  21. There’s no ignoring it. Raptors are going young and with the number of guards they seem to be adding reveal life without FVV. Scottie needs a chance to run point. That kid is special!👍🏀

  22. The Rockets have the money to spend or lose. Fred will make the best decision for Fred. He is a very smart man.

  23. FVV had the best leader mentor in Lowry and he obviously learned nothing. Glad Fred is back and time to bring back Lowry to lead the new young players and players to come. Not worth rolling it back year after year with an overpaid FVV.

  24. I'm sorry Jacob, but FVV has to go. he's a Debbie downer in the locker room. OG doesn't like him. Scottie doesn't' like him. Now we have Dick. Make room the young guys and good vibes, not this grumpy little man.

  25. Fred being gone is not so terrible. Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz, Suggs, Coby White, Tyus Jones. Scottie running the point like Jokic will be awesome. I think we haven't seen the best of Scottie with Fred here.

  26. Why do you keep saying walk for free? The expression is walk for nothing, as in get nothing back, walk for free doesn't mean anything.

  27. Why do we "need" a dynamic shooter at PG to be effective? Fred was not that… guy shot 34% from three. I also would not call him a shot creator. We will be fine without Fred.

  28. The word to add to your Scottie Barnes analysis is "….yet." This year could be his year, his playmaking growth spurt, time will tell.

  29. Amateur sport you are the only blogger that does Raptors contexts that does not know one thing about basketball 🏀 I think you should do more of a hockey contexts you probably know more about hockey than basketball 🏀

  30. Fred is a great talent. Wish him all the best. He deserves it. Raptors need to start internal development else we will not get talent to sign.

  31. That dichenzo guy is the guy I would target. He is a real good player. He is just not getting minutes with warriors but he is smart on the floor. I hope Masai gets this guy.
