I feel like they definitely have a trade lined up

  2. Complexity777

I wouldn’t sign Powell to a vet min contract much less the overpaid nonsense he’s been getting for the past few years while being the worst starting center in the league

  3. DoncicsRoadTo200kg

I dont know how the FO can sit happy running a Powell/Holmes frontcourt with Lively getting limited minutes, that center rotation is dogshit unless Lively shows up from the get go as a defensive force who stay on the floor (He wont, he is a rookie center, those dosent get too many minutes early.)

The Powell/Holmes duo will give us the same problem as previous years; Undersized, no rebounding, and no rim protection, we will get absolutely bullied in the paint again if these two is what we are looking forward to next season.

  4. Tootsiez

Let the FO have time to make moves before we try to burn them.

Choosing powell over Drummond this is ridiculous lmao can’t believe powell has this long of a tenure here 😂

  6. Don’t have an opening at center?

    The hell we don’t 😂😂

  7. YoStepWithLuka77

Nah there is no way this is the center rotation for the mavs this season. Has to be a trade lined up. This would be the same shit as last year

  8. amino110

Feel like this post gonna age like milk

  9. edmarcake

The priority now is bigger wings and 3rd ballhandler. I dont think they will trade for another center unless its cheap.

  10. Desperado-781

Swear to god DP has cuban nudes or something

  11. MajesticPossibility8

I get wanting Powell but in order to upgrade he might not be in future plans

  12. mechanismo2099

No way they being back Powell. They gotta have someone else on mind.

  13. dougaryman

Lol I thought the title was something Stein said and thought he was getting spicy!

  14. Kball4177

I mean niether does a Drummond – Lively – Powell front court.

  15. LogansGambit

The Rockets have been the only other team remotely linked to Powell in some rumor. The 22-60 Rockets. What is Cuban’s freaking deal!

He’s a terrible defender, rebounder, no offense and Kidd and Carlisle both sabotaged this team constantly playing him. I don’t want someone like Powell being the one “mentoring” Lively on how to play basketball at the NBA level. Let the damn man go already!

Edit: being downvoted like I’m speaking lies. Apparently no one has watched the team the past several years.

  16. benkardashian

No mention of McGee? Wonder if they really plan on moving him.

  17. TuckEverlasting89

    1. If we move forward with this C group, it likely means we upgraded at PF, which is an equal, if not more important priority.
    2. We’ll close important games with Maxi at center anyways.
    3. Lively/Holmes/Powell is an improvement on last year’s rotation.
    4. This guarantees Lively a spot in the rotation that will be HUGE for his development.

  18. TZBlueIce

It doesn’t, but we all knew going in that the Mavs did not have the available resources to fill all of their holes. Let’s play this out, alright. If they find good additions at the 3 and 4 with the MLE/BAE/trade/whatever, I’m chilling.

  19. whitefang0824

Seriously if they keep Powell over Drummond lol. This is a fucking no brainer.

  20. Active_Page_3886

This front office makes me hate Dwight Powell so much and he honestly probably doesn’t deserve it… but for fucks sake get him off the team

  21. Millionaire007

Lol sure gtfoh the other 2 are upgrades feom Dwight meaning the team got better.

  22. botebote77

Drummond will create new issues. he thinks he’s a guard in a center’s body

  23. hurricanesznsover

I hate this organization lol. Re-signing Powell was obvious but for those who think it’ll be the minimum and he’ll be a bench guy… lol. No. He may sign for the minimum but he’s absolutely starting and playing 25 mpg.

  24. PmOmena

I think they should resign DP, the problem for me was he starting and what he was receiving. Seasoned vet and our longes tenured player, just needs to come cheaply

  25. hurricanesznsover

Seriously Powell does only two things good on a basketball court: roll to the rim and hustle. And Luka is 99% responsible for Powell being effective on the floor.

  26. Odd_Swordfish_6589

Holmes is prob the best center in this group lol

  27. Odd_Swordfish_6589

Mcgee Holmes Livley would be my choice with MA xi closing out most games maybe dpending on what situation is..but I don’t get a choice..

  28. Mal_Swansky

    Don’t forget about ~~Frank~~ McGee!

  29. question2552

I just really hope our first options arent these big names.

We saw how expensive KP was. He was solid on defense and an okay rebounder, and I guess another offensive tool. But at his price tag he didn’t add enough.

Adding lethal offensive weapons to this team can only go so far. I love the idea of KAT but please… rim protection, rebounding, and rim running. that’s ALL you need.

  30. desirox

Idk I think I’m higher on lively than a lot of ppl here. I definitely don’t agree that we didn’t fix any of our front court issues

  31. Honestly I would much rather resign Christian Wood.

  32. Dirks_Knee

    Wow…Mavs never learn.

So, unless Lively just kills it out of the gate OR Holmes has an insane bounce back we will again be the worst defensive rebounding team in the NBA with Powell and his 13.3 DREB% and Holmes who last season had a 16.6 DREB%. For anyone new to these stats, a decent DREB% is in the low 20’s and excellent 25%+. What this means in real terms is for every 10 defensive rebound chances Powell/Holmes will get 1-2. Just for reference, Drummond had a 40.2 DREB% last season…

  33. SlinkyJr

Y’all are gonna be shocked at how good Lively is. He’s gonna contribute quick similar to what Duren did for the pistons

  34. Mavs-ManiAAC

I mean it’s an improvement from last year at least

  35. chexmixho

Why are we re-signing Powell? He’s just getting in the way of Lively’s development at this point.

  36. DocMcsquirtin

So stein is saying Powell/Holmes/lively is equal or lesser to Powell/Mcgee/wood?

    I’m pressing X to doubt.
