I wanna smile, but it’s just not humorous anymore. Another 3 years. To the people glad he’s back and saying it’s not that bad, please keep that same energy come playoff time when Dereck Lively is in the doghouse because of Jason’s infatuation with Powell.

The people who thought that Dwight wasn’t coming back, despite all the reporting saying the Mavs were planning to bring him back at a near-minimum contract from the start, are the same ones who built up their own expectations about who the Mavs are targeting in FA without anything to support it because it’s a name they heard on TV.

Powell is a stand-up guy and the deal isn’t bad but let’s be serious here: the man is trash at basketball. We’ve seen it for years now. He’s practically unplayable in the playoffs. He’s a poor rebounder, poor defender, undersized for a center, doesn’t have a perimeter game or any post moves. What other team would Powell start on? Look up his career averages. Lively is a more prototypical C than him. Our center rotation is still cooked if we can’t find a trade partner.
