Lamelo put the Hornets and Charlotte on the world map more than MJ and the previous stars of the franchise combined. That's a fact. The broadcast crew and the players during his rookie year became known, too. Even podcasters covering the team benefitted too when the Hornets drafted the kid. Dale Curry, not the player but the retired dad of Steph, Ashley, and Eric was unknown before as the crew that covers the team's every game. I'm sure the kid brought revenue for the city in so many ways which makes his extension contract very reasonable.
