We really could have a shot at getting him if we want to. I think it would take Siakam as the headlining piece, though. Despite this, Dame would be surrounded by OG-Barnes-Poeltl and we’d be instant contenders. Trailblazers also need wing depth, which…we have a lot of! This makes too much sense.

Scottie could be the best young piece they find in the market, so a trade for Scottie and filler of Boucher, Thad, Otto, Flynn and 3 1sts and a swap technically works, that’d give us best case scenario for this team to contend with lineup of Dame/Trent/OG/Pascal/Poeltl and have a solid bench of Schroeder/Dick/Mcdaniels/Precious/Koloko

Personally I would trade Scottie for Dame and not even think about it. Scottie plus filler (Dick, Young whatever) is perfect for Blazers and their timeline.
Then we just upgraded PG from FVV to Dame. We have a proven championship #2 piece. And we have THREE years of Dame. Not one like with Kawhi.
If I’m Masai I would want to trade for Dame.

I think in this (unlikely) scenario, OG ends up on a third team that wants him and would be willing to part with picks that would be relayed to Portland.

I wouldn’t be upset about trading Scottie if we can retain some depth and Dick. We ultimately had four core issues last year:
1) Lack of shooting
2) Lack of a starting-calibre centre (for much of the season)
3) Lack of depth
4) Nurse was not an effective coach anymore
Replacing FVV from Dame brings us from one of the worst shooting PGs in the league to one of the best. We’ve also added Dick who was an excellent shooter at the college level. We’ve added Poeltl. Adding Schroeder, MacDaniels gives us some decent depth. Coaching remains to be seen.
