  1. i think the real question right now which team has the most overrated/overhyped players the rockets or the trailblazers? the trailblazers lost dame but they get to substitute him 1:1 with scoot who has not yet played a single game but is already maybe more overrated than dame. ffv, kpj and green vs scoot, sharpe and simons will be a great duel for the lowest record in the western conference for years, meanwhile fans who "wAtcH bAlL" will talk about how great these players are and that their time will come

  2. It's always a scrub team screw up free agency because they desperate last year Minnesota this year Houston this is the reason we have confused NBA players thinking they worth more than they is

  3. People are missing the point on this one; Ime Udoka is a coach who wants his players to compete on every inch of the floor for 48 minutes, FVV does all the little things right and competes his ass off. Yes, he had a down shooting year but he was in the 92nd percentile in shot quality, 89 as a passer, 91 in turnovers, 91 in shot creation and had a 2.3 offensive plus minus on a down year which is still excellent. Defensively he’s 95th percentile in deflections and somehow 59th in block percentage combining to give him a defensive plus/minus of 1.0 which is way above league average and he’s only 6’0(data courtesy of CraftedNBA). The culture there is AAU bad and what better message to send than one that reads that I don’t care where you are drafted, the guy who plays the hardest and smartest—undrafted at that—is the one we value the most.

  4. thanks be to god the rocket's took him. raps fan here… he was NOT a 43$ million player. and how he runs with the kids in h-town is beyond me. this was some sort of Blue Moon new player/nba contract readjustment. he's not much of a leader either. And… they signed Dennis S? He started for the lakers, so we good.

  5. By the time all their stars are due for a second deal he’ll have locked himself in as the leader. They’ll resign him for a more team friendly deal and he likely is there for 4-5 when it’s all said and done. They needed a veteran star. He is that.

I’m a Celtics fan so this shit doesn’t matter to me at all really. But idk I like the move 🤷🏻‍♂️

  6. Houston Overpaid but i think i see thier vision. They want to be somewhat competitive with veteran leadership. They want to pay well for those vets in their primes now so when all the rookie are about to start their second contracts the Vets can leave and now those rookies would hopefully have a taste of playoff experience which they wouldnt have if left alone. Its all a set up that looks bad at face value.

  7. I love how the internet makes anyone a better General Manager than the actual General Managers.

  8. An overpay? sure, but if they just want to get a vet point guard that could help guide the young core… might as well spend a little bit more.
But the Dillon Brooks deal? Houston was just looking at anyone to throw money at.

  9. On its own it’s a bad contract but given that he can set the tone of the locker room and show the young guys how to be an nba player it is worth it when you know you are going to be bad for the next couple years anyway. You have to spend the cap space during the year. This lets the young guys come up and when they need contracts this will be coming off the books.

  10. FVV has also played the role player role as well as a main scorer role so he can relate to any of the guys and teach them how to play their roles.

  11. What fans don’t understand is that teams HAVE to use their cap space with the new CBA. Team have to use Atleast 90 percent of their cap space. Houston has nothing but young players on their roster with small contracts. They basically had to overpay somebody to meet the minimum requirements.

The new CBA does this to try and prevent teams from tanking, while the penalties for going into the luxury tax are to prevent teams from creating “Superteams”. Rockets had no choice but to throw that extra salary somewhere

  12. I'm surprised because yes, Houston gave this dude WAY too much money. Most importantly, this is Houston who is in rebuilt mode, has a young core they are developing. Fred is going to be 30 years old next year.

  13. He taking Amen Thompson Rookie minutes ! If the last year a team option its smart by Houston

  14. Lowry's motto is 'I get guys paid'. FVVs motto is 'Bet on yourself'. Ever since FVV took reign Raptors development has collapsed under his selfishness. This is the step back Raptors needed to move forward.

  15. FVV is selfish and cancer in the locker room. Toronto is celebrating that this loser is gone. Houston will learn the hard way. He will not mentor young players. The only hope is if the coach stands up to him and puts him in his place. He is not better than a fourth option. He was enabled by Nick Nurse, a horrible coach.

  16. Everyone is thinking Houston screwed up without realizing what their strategy clearly is. Particularly with the shorter term deals. I think they might make more noise next year than anticipated.

  17. If the ROCKETS wanted to avoid the I'm not gonna use all my cap space

    Fred Vanfleet is overrated

  18. Bro only gonna steal min from amen Thompson he isn’t good at all i understand they need to spend 90% of their cap but they could gross overpay another player at some other position

  19. Omg y’all overrating FVV impact. We’re talking about a significantly undersized, unathletic, score-first guard. I struggle with the nba’s criteria for what a valuable player is. FVV is not better than Isaiah Thomas. It just feels like politics be more at play than talent, or consistency.

  20. I don’t think the Rockets over paid at all because how does a bad team entice a good player to go to that team it’s money when your a bad team sometimes you have to pay above market value to give your team a shot to get a good player good teams that were in the market for him the 76ers and Heat really didn’t have a urgency to offer him above market value so the rockets made it fairly easy for him

  21. Fred will be very good in Houston because he is not playing for a contract. His last two years in Toronto frustrated the fanbase.
