The Utah Jazz Won The John Collins Trade!

The Utah Jazz made another massive trade, and this time the victims were the Atlanta Hawks! The Utah Jazz acquired John Collins from the Atlanta Hawks for Rudy Gay and a 2nd round pick. That’s the entire deal. It’s another win for Utah Jazz Boss Danny Ainge and an indication that the Utah Jazz are serious about competing for a NBA Playoff spot. How does John Collins help the Utah Jazz, and what does this trade mean for Utah Jazz draft pick Taylor Hendricks?

  1. Collins and Hendricks can be played as needed. Coach Hardy has already shown he's willing to bench guys based on matchups. Gives the Jazz another front court option. Nicely done, Jazz front office! The only issue will be that 3rd year. However, they could easily trade him as an expiring. That's going to be very valuable with the new CBA. Although, if he performs up to his value then it works out to just keep him for his entire contract. Win-win!

  2. Would $25 mil per season not have netted the Jazz a player as good or better than JC in free agency? That’s how I have to view this deal.

  3. Im very high on Keyonte George i think he'll need some coaching and some time to adjust to a new offensive and defensive scheme, but he's going to have positional coaching at the professional level and aome of the best at the Utah Jazz to iron out any of his minor weaknesses, i see real star potential with George and a guy that seems to be call it a hooper/gamer with uber confidence in himself. Im looking forward to seeing him when he breaks out in the NBA.

  4. Chet holmgren has no chance to take The Rookie mvp 🐦‍⬛ this season "none" sorry, and i would love it if he did win it.. but Where's- Ur-mamma is the new Lebron James-esk type of hyped up player in the Future NBA now so yeah, its a wrap already. And the league wont let his marketability go to waste

  5. Ive never been a closet Laker Fan, just a full blown life long Lakers Hater😢

  6. Ainge is a wizard. I cant get tired to repeat that. Nets, Wolves, Hawks the list goes on and on…

  7. Hawks will now get 10% senior discount at the Waffle Houses by having Rudy Gay on their team. Big savings!

  8. Come on guys… come on… Underrated Collins… don't you get it??? Us getting him for nothing, means no one wanted him. He hasn't done nothing, he won't get us to the finals… truth is, we still need 1 or 2 superstars… and Dany ain't doing nothing to bring a huge player.. should give our Draft Capital for Luka.. or Dame.. Collins might not be better for us than JC, and we giving him the money?

  9. Or you just took on 25 mil a year for a player who was so bad he was getting fewer minutes than his young backups in the playoffs. Good luck with all that.

  10. Collins gives the Jazz flexibility they coveted in the Rudy Gobert era…the ability to go big or go small ball depending who they are defending. All this with highly athletic and young front court.

  11. The Jazz hoped that Gay was the answer to the small ball death lineup but he wasn’t but Collins has the size and athleticism to be the 4 in the Big lineup or the 5 in a small ball athletic lineup.

  12. I still would have liked to have gotten more out of the Westbrook trade. Washington had no intention of keeping Chris Paul, and the rumors were that they were going to buy him out but were able to get something out of Golden State.

  13. Atlanta once saw a team do this trade and figured Collins would garner the same but the market quickly changed over night:

    T-Wolves get Rudy Gobert

    Jazz get:

• Talen-Horton Tucker
• Walker Kessler
• Keyonte George
    +Damian Jones
    +Juan Toscano-Anderson
• 2025 first-round pick
• 2026 pick swap
• 2027 first-round pick
+2027 1st round draft pick (from Lakers)
• 2029 first-round pick
+Fractional net trade exception for Patrick Beverly/Tucker
