To Damian Lillard or to not Damian Lillard? Utah Jazz extend Jordan Clarkson

The NBA is waiting on the Damian Lillard trade. Should the Utah Jazz get involved in Damian Lillard trades. There are three aspects to any Damian Lillard conversation, his contract, how good would the Utah Jazz be and what assets would you have to give up.

David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA Insider takes a look at all three of those.

The Utah Jazz made two significant moves in free agency they used their cap space to acquire John Collins and they extended Jordan Clarkson. Locke takes a look at those moves and how they look in the landscape of free agency.

Do the Utah Jazz need a point guard? At this moment it is fair to say they don’t have one but maybe the modern NBA is made differently and that player is no longer a necessity.

  1. Excited to hear the thoughts on this! Personally, I say it doesn't make sense to give up the farm again for it, but I know there are a lot of Dame fans here in Utah, myself included!

  2. Not to dame no way he is not the answer I think he is great but I think that the jazz should let the guys that are here see what they can do before throwing curve balls at them

  3. Why are they doing nothing about point guard? That is their biggest issue.

  4. I don't care who that's way to much money to dribble a basketball

  5. lillard, clarkson, markennen, collins and kessler would make the Jazz a top 5 in the west… But is that good enough to make this move?
I'm not convinced. But it would be really fun.

  6. Let's just see what we got. So many questions we need to answer before I think we should go after a star. What are our Rookies? Can Markkanen repeat last year's performance? Is John Collins shot gone?

I think we need at least a year to evaluate, unless you can get Dame or Herro at a really cheap price

  7. Damian Lillard to the Utah Jazz for all of the future No. 1 round picks and several players makes absolutely NO SENSE at all!! We just go rid of an expensive aging point guard Mike Conley! So now you're going to give up everything you gained in the Gobert trade (best trade in Jazz history) and the Mitchell trade (WORST trade in Jazz history!) for another aging (often injured) point guard…?? You already had a fantastic, much younger point/shooting guard in house (Donvan Mitchell) and you traded him! And now you want an even smaller point guard to take his place…?? Doesn't make sense AT ALL, so I'm sure Danny will be all over this and sell the farm to get him! Makes NO SENSE AT ALL to me!!! 🙄🙄

  8. Yea Dame aint worth all that. Donovan Mitchell problem. Guards that dont defend cant win, period. Why would we give up picks AND all those players? Why? Given the Bradley Beal trade why do the Blazers get a good deal? They have no leverage. Dame does not outproduce those 3 players David mentioned and Dame's salary is the worst in the league. They only paid Dame that much as back-pay for his loyalty. I dont wanna foot the bill for that. Only way I take Dame is if we JUST give up salary match players and NO picks. Not a single one. Why in the world would anyone want that albatross contract just lock yourself into a 2nd round exit? Didnt the Jazz JUST get done doing that? How did that go?

Id also be careful thinking Clarkson wanted to be here so bad. Frankly Ive heard he was kinda tired of being here and ready to leave but as you pointed out before….his market wasnt gonma be there so he listened to his agent. This was good as he was gonma get. No one has the cap to pay him 22 mil per year.

  9. The reason people are excited about Ochai more than THT is simple: THT is starting year 5 in the NBA. Ochai year 2. Age is interesting, but NBA minutes are just as much a factor.

  10. Dunn is a defensive baller, send flame on, sexton, olynyk plus four 1st. Rounders, jazz will still have six 1st round picks

  11. What about Lowry at pg (or Herro, who Ainge loved back in his draft year), making Jazz part of 3 team trade with HEAT and Blazers?

  12. Tht needs to stop spinning in circles and falling down. Loose 25 lbs and learn to shoot. Hes the guy i trade. Dunn plays defense. A willing passer. Efficient in the paint. What the hell am i missing.

  13. The price for Lillard is way to high. In addition, I don't think the odds are great for winning a championship with him on the team at this point.
