I’d love to get Hayes for cheap. I’ve wanted him for a long time.

  2. radicalcamel

If we go for him it’s a later years 2nd, we should be good by then so it’ll be low value.

Adding another non shooter to a lineup that struggles to shoot yeesh.

For a second round pick, sure. He’s a good defender with more size than Jones and is a smart passer. If Blake. Wesley ends up just two volatile as the backup. He could probably step in for some minutes and who knows. If he somehow becomes been a tiny bit of an adequate shooter. There could be something there.

for cheap? Sure. I wouldn’t give up firsts or anything.

We’re 3 years into his career and he hasn’t hit 40% from the field or 30% from 3 despite playing over 20 mpg and he commits a ton of turnovers. It doesn’t look like he’ll pan out into a positive player

If we had open roster slots maybe but we don’t and he is really not good enough to open up one for him

Would be a good get for cheap. Reminds me a heck ton of Conley Jr. Better ball is definitely ahead of him. Already good at defense. He has the confidence to take the shots and has ok form which can be corrected. He’s a lefty I believe also. When I see him shoot it seems like the basketball gods are against him and just swat them away for the opposing team. I can’t see his shot not falling for his entire nba tenure, he’ll get his game down soon. Maybe he can work with Parker or something.

  9. We have our own super raw athletic PG prospect in Wesley. Using up another roster spot trying to develop Hayes might be redundant. Hayes is further along defensively, but the offense may never let him see the floor.

Wait for them to waive him then sign him to Austin

No way pop and rc want him after he knocked out Mo Wagner last year (kinda deservedly but still)

  12. Bo_Jangles23

He’s one of the worst players in the league rn, fuck u talking bout

  13. Equivalent_Bet1519

Rather develop Blake. Has more potential

Despite the fact he is often clowned for being terrible, if affordable, that’s a legit flier. That said, who do we lose to make room for him? Where does he get minutes, and can we absorb another weak shooter and expect to do anything with him?

That’s the kind of thing I’d just say “I dunno, what does the Spurs FO think?” Can’t say as I was watching a whole lot of Pistons games the last couple seasons…

Barring a really solid prospect popping loose, I think we’re pretty much set now.

  15. that 37% from the field doesn’t look appealing at all

  16. DeusPro02

yea no if we give up anything of value for him i’d be very disappointed. not super high on him.

This looks to me like Detroit thinking about next summer and knowing they probably won’t want to match any reasonable offer sheet. So why not put his name out there and see if you can get some sort of assets back a year early.

As I have said when his name has come up before – he wouldn’t be our starting PG now, and no longer looks like having a ceiling where he could become our starting PG of the future. But as a backup to Tre this year, and then competing with Tre and Blake as our future backup PG – he would be absolutely fine, and has a higher upside than both of those guys: because if he can just become adequate offensively (just get to Tre’s level as a minimum) then a defensive lineup including Hayes, Devin, Wemby & Sochan would just be a nightmare for opposition teams.

I would quite happily give up a 2nd or two if that is the cost. Maybe consider the Charlotte pick if we think it is never gonna convey as a first, but from memory it still covers the next 2 drafts so I wouldn’t want to give it up just yet unless for something better.

as a pistons fan I think he needs a change of scenery. he kinda had the Ben Simmons syndrome, he has a decent shot but he’s doesn’t take good shot or doesn’t have confidence. he’s a great passer and I think he could easily average 8+ assists with good shooters. most of his turnovers are from his dribbing. he is a good defender and has good effort. I think pop could take him to a 12/4/9 type of dude. with questionable shooting. also has a really bad weak hand

  19. nakedsamurai

Tre Jones is straight up better. Go look at the stats.

  20. tlpedro

At this point in his career he is a taller more athletic version of Tre Jones. Need to work on his shot creation.

  21. waffle-winner

Reset his shot, get him over whatever mental block he’s stuck on, and he could be very good. The defense and the court vision are there. Big ifs tho. But for a cple of 2nds, I’d rather him on the roster than khem birch.

  22. Maractop

He still has potential I think we should go in for him. We can fix his shooting issues

  23. GeneralThick2013

Well, at least he’s consistent… consistently underwhelming! 😅
