Someone make the guy in blue comprehend what tanking and rebuilding is and its purpose, why at all draft young players and why hire vets to surround them
The FVV contract has a third year team option. So it is effectively a two year contract. The Dillon brooks deal is an overpay but it is a descending contract. Also the cap is increasing over the next few years. It isn’t as bad as it seems
All of the deals (except Brooks) are great, short term deals that provide leadership around the young core. The Rockets believe in this young core, which has tons of talent, but a horrible lack of structure in previous coaching regime. Jalen-Jabari-Sengun-Tari-Amen-Cam & maybe kpj development is the Rockets future. They're all so young, the $ isn't the issue at the moment. We'll revisit that in a few years when they get out of Rookie contracts.
So many people are infatuated with the $$ in free agency, not realizing the existing 6-7 guys is the key to all of this.
Have to wonder if FVV was selected to help build up the young Houston Rockets team or an attempt to destroy the Toronto Raptors by taking one of their perceived top players which would drastically effect the next season… and for nothing in return!!! Ime didn't consider the coaching position in Toronto because he believes that the city is "too woke"??? Needless to say, Fred is a nice person off the court and works hard on the court, but most of the Raptor's fans won't miss him. Check out the interesting read: "Why Raptors Fans HATED Fred VanVleet" . The bright spot is, you can't believe everything you read. I will be following the Houston Rockets next year but cheering for the Toronto Raptors. Money doesn't guarantee success.
