I watched a full Leonard Miller game and here are my takeaways

*Disclaimer: This is only a 1 game sample size because you can’t really find full G-League games easily, so take this with a grain of salt*

**MET 112 – GLI 106**

*Information about this game:*
For a good amount of this game Leonard was guarding Wembanyama, and although his 6’10 would be enough to tower over anyone, it’s still difficult to guard someone 7’3 that can shoot, but he held his own and I think he did as good as he possibly could. Scoot also got injured in the first quarter so Leonard was one of the main scorers on the team after that. The Ignite blew a 15+ point lead after Wembanyama got hot and when you’re 7’3 things just come easy in basketball. The ignite coach took Leonard out in the last 2 minutes dispute it being tied because of the mismatch between him and Wembanyama, the Ignite then go on to lose the game

**Stats for this game**

28min / 16pts / 9reb / 3ast / 1tov
6/10fgm – 3/5 3pt – 2/2ft

**Strengths**
– Hustles
– Paint/Post Defense
– Willing to put body on the line
– Good ball control for his size
– Boxing out
– Gets in position well on offense
– Rebounding

**Weaknesses**
– Overcommits on Defense occasionally
– Shooting form (it works it just looks weird)
– Leaves man open while ball watching, doesn’t happen often but should be addressed
– Gets confused on switches sometimes
– okay passing

**Other Notes**
• I’ve heard before that Leonard Miller plays very unorthodox in the way he moves, and after watching him I couldn’t agree more, he’s very unpredictable and wonky in the way he plays but it works for him. You might find yourself shocked that he even got the ball in the basket after dropping it and stumbling towards the paint, but he doesn’t skip a beat when it comes to his play. It’s unique and it works for him.
• He doesn’t play like he’s 6’10. Ofcourse you’ll get the stiff looking movements that every taller player does, but he’s very agile and smooth in how he moves, whether it’s with or without the ball he’s there and will contort his body in any way that works.
•Also fun fact I saw, Bleacher Report has his player comparison as Jalen McDaniels, which is obviously Jaden’s brother. I just thought that was interesting.

**Main Takeaway**
I believe that Leonard Miller will be a great bench player for us in the future, and even maybe now depending on how much he’ll play. He’s a young player and he really shows it in the way he makes rookie mistakes and is too aggressive when it isn’t needed, but all of this will be worked out with trainers, coaches, teammates etc. A steal in the draft and im shocked he went this low for us to take. The majority of last season the wolves rookies didn’t play unless it was a blowout, so hopefully next year there are some to give him the opportunity to show his skills off. He will also being playing in the summer league game this Friday.

*If you know anything else about his play or even have any comments I’d appreciate it*

Maybe slomo can teach him to be even more unpredictable. 😁

His shooting touch is great, his footwork when shooting jumpers is terrible. If he can fix his footwork he will be at least average shooter.
