Barry Jackson : As we and Spears, Shams and Amick have repeatedly reported, it’s only Miami for Dame. Period. No thought to expanding list. Portland at some point will need to accept or make a big mess with best player in franchise history

Right because NBA players never change their mind.

  3. Bam really went full court press on Dame. Dame is Heat culture before he even put on the uniform.

I’m not sure I believe Dame won’t crack first in this standoff. Get ready for a saga boys

It’s gonna be a while, with over 5 teams interested in helping out that’s a lot of packages to go over, you’d have to rule out every team individually in a 3 team deal, and that’s not even including our end of that

Portland is just not going to get near equal value for Lillard. He made a request specifically to Miami and that’s it. They need to accept that. They can yell about how he doesn’t have a NTC all they want, but are they really going to play seasons of basketball with a disgruntled superstar? Will any team give up alot of assets for that situation? This is all posturing by Portland to get an asset or two more from Miami or another team in a 3 team trade.

I feel like this is a case of both things being true, Dame has his mind set on one team while Portland is trying to put out fires and shop with other teams to see if they can get a better deal.

I think the Anthony Davis scenario where the trade fell through and he had to stick with the Pelicans until the All Star break is also a likely scenario.

“Portland needs to accept getting taking as a hostage by a player who willingly signed a contact with them”

Portland fucked up by 1) Not believing that Dame would want out after they drafted Scoot instead of trading the pick 2) Not trading Dame until he asked for a trade.

Portland did this to themselves. If Dame wants to be in Miami and won’t play for other teams, then Portland had better just bite the bullet and get what they can.

Superstars have enough money and power to essentially dictate where they play, so making sure everyone is on the same page, is critical to running a successful franchise.
