“League sources indicate the sides are talking and continue to plan to do so in the days to come as more free agency and trade business gets settled around the league. However, it seems evident at this point that the Celtics are not just going to hand Brown a five-year supermax offer with no strings attached without some negotiation first. If that was the case, this deal would likely be done by this point.”
He better not be asking for a no trade clause
“As more dominoes begin to fall in the next few days around the league with the start of NBA Summer League, Brown’s situation bears watching. The likeliest scenario, for now, is still the Brown extension we all thought would be coming days ago. However, the longer this situation drags on, the more it’s fair to wonder whether there’s something more at play here.”

Regardless or not of him extending the C’s are definitely looking at all options in this.
I think a fair compromise is less money with a player option on the 5th year.
they’re waiting to see what happens with grant. the grant issue is more time sensitive, there’s not as much of a rush to figure out JB’s deal whereas grants situation is actively happening. every report has been the super max is expected
