We have our reggie replacement, send Reggie to Clippers for Zubac

He’d be a great fit for what we need. Still have other needs too, but I like the fit.

He would be the first all-defense player who would be on the Mavs in the Luka era.

Love this video. And him being a net negative on offense honestly isn’t a big deal. We’ve dealt with Reggie and Dwight for years who only have one offensive skill each. If he can captain the defense, we have more than enough O to compensate.

And if we can pair him with PJ or Grant through S&T our defense will be significantly improved. And don’t even get me started how much better we would be if they funneled all drivers into Jarrett Allen and (eventually) Lively.

Frank, Justin Holiday, etc were lockdown defenders too and we saw how unplayable they were because they couldn’t make their wide open shots.

*look at only the high points of the video, completely ignores the tradeoffs section*

so basically he’s prime Michael Jordan defensively? Nice

My big worry after watching this video is that playing defense from behind works when you have Embiid in the middle to funnel players to so you can gamble on getting a block or steal from behind. Playing defense from behind when Powell is in the middle might just lead to a layup.

Not getting my hopes up they most likely will match and Blazer fans feels like there is no way they won’t match.

Tristan Thompson is still available. And Bol Bol!

A very detailed and insightful video; Matisse is definitely a menace and it was awesome seeing the clips of him soaring for blocks and chasing dudes across the court and over screens; feel like he will be well liked if he brings that same energy here.

There definitely is a concern that he won’t really be as effective with the Mavs though; unless Lively is ahead of schedule in his development there isn’t a good rim protector on the team that he can funnel players into and can cover his mistakes, as he plays from behind his man and makes a lot of gambles that don’t always work out. He’ll still probably be a positive just cuz he is disruptive and lengthy with active hands, but it’s worth debating if this high risk style of play is worth dealing with his offensive shortcomings as well.

Of course all of that is hypothetical and dependent on if the Blazers match or not.
