It’s funny how Klutch is trying to spin this. Guess there wasn’t much of a market for Bridges after all and we’re not prepared to overpay whatever Rich Paul is demanding.

  2. Scrypto

2024 will be the 3rd year in a row we have to deal with his free agency. Guess this is crazy cheap from a hornets perspective but i just want to be done with this circus

  3. niners0101

Klutch sports are the devil. They knew this was the plan all along and are trying to spin it lol

  4. theRestisConfettii

There are second chances in life. There are no third chances.

Welcome back, Miles. Now let’s get to work.

  5. raiderrocker18

Perfect scenario. 1 year deal gives him a prove-it year to play motivated and help that protected FRP convey

  6. kgrid14

Oh BEAUTIFUL.. Prove it year for miles. Well be getting his best behavior and best production. And we can reward him next year if needed

  7. XX-Burner

Only a year huh. Not sure how to feel about that

  8. daswampmoose

The point of this is for miles to try and get the contract he wants, we understandably don’t want to pay him what we would have before he beat his wife, now he will be a UFA next year in a weak market

  9. joshuagreen38

Does this mean the hornets are now gonna operate under the cap?

  10. Bread_Responsible

As much as I’d like to lock him up long term, this is the right move. Sign cheap this year, prove you’re still the same player you were and trending up, and we’ll pay you next year.

  11. ThesfeW2

Nearly lost your whole career and can’t accept probably tens of millions of dollars, see ya

  12. BeinGibby

If he just signs the qualifying offer this year is he still a restricted free agent next offseason?

  13. ElectricalBank6411

Hope he’s still at his 21-22 level and we bring him back past next year

  14. hopefully he enjoys this year and decides to resign

  15. issofine

Much cheaper than the 20ish mil I was expecting and it’s just a 1 year deal. I’m all for it! This is a W for the team

  16. sleep__walker

trying to figure out the motivation to give him a large role at the expense of Brandon Millers development. Give him 20 minutes off the bench to bolster us, let him be someone elses problem.

Having to wait 10 games when the rest of the team is already in a groove and functioning without him and then putting him in a 35 min starter role again with on the qualifying offer just seems like doing him a favor for no reason

  17. CarolinaCock2

He’s gotta prove himself, nobody wants that media coverage until he can prove he’s changed……plus he’s playing for a new contract, he’ll perform this year.

  18. Danofthecloth

Can someone explain the cap implications and the trade part. He has control of trades?

  19. sleep__walker

Does this put Grant+PJ+Miles in play or no

  20. PizzaGMthrowaway

See how the rest of the off-season plays out but if he keeps out of trouble and goes off, Gordon’s contract falling off the books next year. He can just slide right in and get a big contract with us. Big win for the hornets

  21. jumpmanj2395

this is good for me. charlotte most likely tried to lock him down with a team friendly contract and they didn’t want it. i have no problem paying this man later if he proves his character has improved and his game is even better.

not sure why they thought Miles would get a huge contract after what happened lol

  22. Subject_Gene_9775

    I’m guessing he wanted a 4 year 85 with PO…and Hornets wanted 4 year 60 at most..

  23. buzzcitybonehead

Honestly, I like this. He’s on a team-friendly “prove it” deal, albeit for a year. He’ll be super easily tradable even if he can veto, and we could load up on assets to send his bird rights somewhere that can sign him next year.

  24. Dat_one_lad

Will Melo’s max kick in after next season? Cuz then we’ll have to give him whatever because we’ll have no cap space regardless

  25. hankjr16

Will it be possible for Charlotte to sign him to a long-term extension during the season?

  26. ACCBAN4TRUTHTELLING

That’s honestly fine. If he balls out and actually deserves a max contract, he’ll get one. We get a nice deal on the player for this year at least.

  27. issofine

On a side note, he needs to give back to the community or some sort of service to others to build back up his image in Charlotte

  28. MJHornet

Like Music to my ears… Once it’s done, get PJ and we’re set, or maybe try to see what we can get for Gordon or Terry?

  29. unfamiliarjoe

Don’t be surprised if he is traded before the season. He needed to sign to make that happen.

  30. DrSharkBird

I wanted to bring him back but also wanted him in the lower 20s. My assumption is, Klutch was asking for the Cam Johnson range which Miles would’ve been in last summer. Makes no sense for the Hornets to do that now. Klutch could maximize his contract after a big year so that makes sense.

We have his bird rights, we can negotiate with our FAs before free agency, and we’ll have new owners who are hopefully not as cheap. Up to Miles to prove he’s worth it this season.

  31. mramsey1992

I mean I understand the angle Rich Paul is trying to make, but he literally had zero leverage.

Agent egos are pretty impressive for how blinded they are

  32. bobbyz989

It’ll be weird rooting for the guy. But maybe he can turn his life around. Has he done a press interview after the incident?

  33. milfncookies69420

Glad to hear we got him back. Now hopefully he doesn’t fuck up and plays to his potential and we retain him next year. Hornets have quietly assembled a very talented young roster full of potential.

  34. dutchiesRweird

I’m 100% fine with him walking. Some things are more important than how good a guy can toss a leather ball into a small basket.
