The Toronto Raptors Could Be Eyeing A HUGE Trade With Pascal Siakam

After the Toronto Raptors lost Fred VanVleet to the Houston Rockets in NBA free agency, Masai Ujiri’s front office may be forced into taking the team in a different direction than planned. All signs were pointing towards team management wanting to put a competitive roster out on the court next season but given the current talent level, that might be too difficult. As a result, a retool could be in play and the only real way of setting that in motion would be to trade either OG Anunoby or more preferably, two-time All-NBA and two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam.

A number of teams have shown interest in the player and according to reports from Sportsnet’s Michael Grange, every team has their eyes on Toronto to see if a player of Pascal Siakam’s caliber does become available for trade. So which team could have genuine interest and what should the Raptors be looking to get back in the deal.

The Atlanta Hawks have major interest in making something happen, but is there enough to get it done on Masai Ujiri’s typical harsh terms for trades.

  1. Why sign Jakob if we are going to trade Siakam. Jakob wanted to be in Toronto with Siakam. Let’s keep players who want to be here then trading for players who want to walk during free agency.

  2. Pascal is a Raptor for life so stop with those mock drafts. I think the heat is getting to you.

  3. Raptors arent that bad that they need to trade anything. They need to aquire a pg. And keep drafting they will be fine.

  4. I would want more than just murray but it makes a lot of sense. We get a pg we need and get rid of the logjam at the forward spots a line up of Puertl, OG, Barnes, Trent and Murray makes more sense that what we have now. Murray also younger n bwtter fit with this new core the last few years. And seeing as hes not a ball dominant pg Scottie can still cook alongside him and Muray brings another all defensive play in the line up to go with OG (Peurtl not bad either). What the other peices the raptors will get with Murray? Idk but i wouldnt hate this deal.

  5. I like Siakam but I feel like he wont be a good fit in this team in the long term. Make the Hawks trade asap

  6. Had the Kings went out and got a Kuzma or even Smart then i could see them going after siakim to give them a deadly starting 5. But seeing as they didnt do that and kept the same team its hard for me to see them trading assets for another star.

  7. The hawks are giving up way too much for pascal. Something around Murray/Grffin/traded player exception maybe a pick for pascal. Seems fair value to me.

  8. I love Spicy P and maybe its a bit of a Bias, Nobody wants to play in Toronto, its cold most of the year, high taxes, foreign for most NBA stars its not the best place to be a millionaire like Florida or Texas. When you have guys like Pascal who are committed to the city its hard to find a replacement. Dejounte is a good player but he does not care about winning, he cares about money. He will bounce the first chance he gets. Pascal IMO is also improving immensely every year he literally has a mismatch every time down the floor, hopefully this year he hits that stride with more consistency.

  9. Good Afternoon! As an Atlanta Hawks fan I wouldn't make this trade. I love Pacal Siakam's game but I'm not overpaying for a rental. He's not even a top 15 player. I believe this so called trade won't happen and I hope we move on to another target. Good luck, Toronto.

  10. Speculation and entertainment for now. To trade Pascal, the Raps need to get the following in return: a seasoned pg, a big, a slasher or an aggressive defender like PBeverley, then add a 24/25 first round or second round pick.

  11. Nah – if the deal goes down with ATL, Raps heavily tout Bufkin, it will be something like this -. Murray, Bogs, Griffin, and Bufkin, plus 2 firsts 1st for PS and Gradey or maybe Achuiwa. Something like that!

  12. Murray is a ufa after this season. How does this help the team? People think he will actually stay?

  13. People we not doing anything big th8s summer if so it will be bench tweaks flynn bouch maybe thad will be traded before siakam

  14. Our starting lineup will be what you see dennis gtj og siakam and jak. Off the bench scottie grady bouch precious moses brown.

  15. All these trade Siakam talk for un provens is absolutely ridiculous. This is good arm chair talk. This talk about assests reset is bulcrap, Raptors finally at a point where year in and out at least competitive. Some NBA teams yet to win a title. Resetting and getting young really does t work at all. Memphis is recent example and they flamed out quickly.

  16. Problem with the Raptors is that they have some very talented players that don’t mesh well or necessarily compliment each other … and because of the ages of some of these players they want a bigger role… and I can’t blame them. With all the money being thrown around of course they would like to see how far their talents can take/make them

Trading Siakam may not alleviate this issue depending on the return.

They almost have to trade siakam, OG and GTJ to get young talent and try again

  17. He was traded for a reason, Raptors lack maturity and while a solid player he’ll only make things worse

  18. By far the biggest cancer is gone: Nick Nurse. I have been railing on him for the last 3 or 4 years so enough said. Van Vleet is a very good player, but the Raptors are built big and need the ball in the hands of their big men to win. A pass first point guard is needed with this team and Freddy is often a shoot first guy. Hopefully someone steps up to fill Freddy's shoes. I might lose all credibility with this, but I think bring back Matt Thomas. Look at his European footage. Trent will still be a little inconsistent but he can win you games. With more touches and the room to develop further, Anunoby will take the next step to become a solid second option. Siakim will have another all star year which will be his best, and hopefully shut up the doubters. Poetl will do a good job inside. Barnes will be given a better chance to develop by not being forced to play beyond his current ability. He is not there yet. He should come off the bench as a number 6 for this year anyway. The East is weak, this team could end up as high as the 3rd seed next year. 76rs are done, Nick Nurse will see to that.

  19. Get a few true shooters. It is difficult to get a player of Pascal's caliber, but people forget he was developed into what he is now. He wasnt polished when we acquired him.

  20. if atlanta will trade pascal for dmurray and fillers i would like to trade dmurray to the kings for keegan murray and mitchell

  21. Masai has his eyes on Damian Lillard. The heat's package for dame is weak since Portland doesnt want Herro. Masai tryna pull a 2019 swing for dame just like be did for Kawhi

  22. If murray is comong the other way….its a sign raps will still want to contend….better have capela in that deal….and whatever rooks and pics masai wants. Siakam could be top15 playrr if not for FV.

Better be a boatload coming the other way .

Raps are 60%WL W/o FV and an otherwise healthy and proper lienup.

  23. This is bull s… , everyone knows Murray was dumped by the spurs because he wouldn't listen to Pop. Toronto knows this, Murray will NEVER play for Toronto we don't want him !

  24. Not sold on Atlanta Dallas or Sacramento trade. Pascal is only valuable if the Raptors get a star (for example Zion, Dame or a player like this). Pascal is a good player but he will not be able to take Toronto to a championship as the number one choice. I would look at Oklahoma and all their young players there.

  25. 3 way trade plz Siakam for Murray and picks then send Murray the picks and some more picks and maybe a player to balance the numbers for Damian !!!!!!
