Source to Buzz Beat: Charlotte is targeting the full MLE ($12.4m annually) offer over multiple years for Grant Williams. It’s likely that Grant has offers above and beyond that in the market, but the #Hornets do have ways to create cap space and bid above $12.4m. Monitoring.

These guys don’t ever really break news but i figured I’d post this. With all this smoke around Williams it feels like there’s a very likely Chance at least 1 of miles and PJ aren’t here next season. Would be a major mistake imo but I guess we’ll see.
As mentioned in the other thread, I assume this is a backup plan in case we get priced out of PJ or Miles… or this is just smoke for contract discussions with their agents, à la we got other options, give us a better deal.
PJ S&T coming soon
I don’t dislike Grant, but idk why they would choose him over PJ unless someone offers PJ some insane contract
ETA: A sign and trade makes sense actually and I wouldn’t hate it if we got the right return
I really don’t understand this. They need to get the new owners in here and they need to decide who their GM is going forward before the team makes any more big decisions like this.
What if we could put a package with PJ some others and a couple pics for Dame? I think something is brewing. PJ sign and Trade and Gordon contract year. We can match a big salary.
Just keep PJ man… if anything I think this is the FO trying to build leverage over miles or it’s his replacement to get another 4 man. I’m not a huge fan of grant Williams fit with this team
Why
-what team has that much interest in Grant Williams lol
-where would he find PT on our roster at with our logjam in the front court
I do think this is a backup however, with Miles now back, it’s hard to see where PJ fits in. Would he agree to a $20M+ deal with no guarantee of starting?
I believe the whole point of Grant is someone you can get on a decent contract but can come of the bench and provide veteran leadership
I haven’t heard anything on Grant specifically, but there’s 0 chance anyone is offering more than that for Grant.
as a vols fan i’d love to pick him up. as a Hornets fan i’d love to pick him up.
I know they aren’t the same player but just as far as PT goes. Would this be Bridges insurance? If we let him walk after the 1 year instead of re-sign him?
I thought this at first, but after the first SL game, we need him and cut Bouk off the team. NSJ did not look good either.
