Chet doesn’t look like he’s in full go mode yet…..he looks stiff but Its kinda what I expected. Tre Mann looked great offensively.
Tre Mann has really bulked up and has really worked on his offensive game(jumpers, drives, handles, etc)… Holmgren is looking elite on defense: 1v1, helpside, fundamentals, etc…
Tre Mann is playing in summer league. Scoring is NOT his problem, decision making is. Fans lose sight of the fact that these PPG when he has more NBA minutes played than the opposing teams starters combined is misleading.
We already can see exactly what Chet will do from day one which is absolutely elite all over defense. Thought he actually had at least 4 blocks tonight and they messed up the stats but that's neither here nor there but what was noticeable was how well the paint was protected with him and Jwill. Memphis only won the game because of the outside shot, on the inside they had no answers for the combination of those two. I really like the Thunder trying them out as a pairing together because their strengths cancel out each others weaknesses seamlessly so I can see that continuing into the regular season. For Chet the handle is definitely a little loose hence the turnovers, however, a lot of his turnovers have been where he's got the ball up top and he's actually beat his defender 1 on 1 but its been the 2nd defender coming over that's taken it away. He's created the advantage, he just needs to be more aware to make the pass quickly and then the team offense is in a great position. A lot of the offensive mistakes are simply rust and conditioning and the fact that he has a whole new dimension he can go to on that level when he's working off the advantages that Shai creates and the passing of Giddey is super exciting. Also enjoying how Tre is playing. He's always been so elite at creating space its just like you said that he couldn't cash them cheques last year despite having those good looks. Hopefully can continue that and so can still give a lot of value to this team. Nice game from Dieng, hopefully he can continue to be more aggressive here in summer league because this is the situation where he can really see what his capabilities are offensively. No need to be passive here and so be aggressive and if it ends in mistakes who cares because at least the mentality is one that will constitute growth.
Tre mann is playing great, I just want to know where he fits in the rotation.
We had no genuine PG in the Memphis game. Any centre will struggle with no ligitimate PG. Wait till he has Shai and Josh feeding him.
Chet could score a lot more in these games but it looks as though he’s trying to work within the role he’ll have when the season proper starts.
He changes the geometry of the court on defense and is an elite shot blocker/changer.
Lets be real, Tre always been special. Tre been brokeout, if thats what we calling it. He been proved that he belong in this league and is a solid NBA player.
The problem is, Isaiah Joe came in a little more seasoned and took his mins. The same stuff Tre did in the last 2 games, he was doing last year.
All shooters go through a rough patch. He went through a slump and everybody act like they forgot who he was.
Its crazy how we act surprised like Tre aint been this good.
Also, Chet looks underwhelming to me but this wont be the same Chet we will see by the end of the season. Im not thinking about the numbers. Its all about what im seeing.
Though Tre Mann scored many points, his game doesn't feel like the modern passing game (as in Denver Nuggets). It seems like his looking for his shots a bit rather than being in sinc with teammates movement and pass to make the easier shots. Aaron Wiggins is better at least of moving without the ball.
Let’s see if this version of tre will make Thunder rotation in October
The Thunderless better get out of this try outmode and with all those picks and start getting vets and a real NBA coach mgmt/owners need to put together a plan this year on the floor
Tre offers something to this team that no one else beyond our starting 5 can. I feel like his skillset will be so beneficial in the second unit and as a rotational piece if he can keep up this level of play or even improve from here! Thunder up
His offense will come. I’m more concerned with Ous in that department.
Believe it or not I’m more worried about Chet’s rebound percentage, hand strength and free throws rn. Even the falling over will stop as his center of mass shifts lower over time
