[Zach Lowe] “Everyone is acting like the Heat’s offer is a pile of poop. I’m like, look, Tyler Herro’s not amazing but I think he’s a good NBA player. People have made the Poole comps endlessly… Tyler Herro has been demonstrably better than Poole. Herro is an actual legit, elite, 3-point shooter.”

Herro”s always gotten shit on and I don’t understand it. For a 13th overall pick that had back to back 20ppg seasons people treat him like he’s Luke Ridnour and a straight up bust.

You’d think he averaged like 8/3/3 the way people talk about him.

  2. Sixers14

People forget poole played very well during the playoffs when warriors won the championship

  3. TubbzMcGee

Should be easy for Miami to turn him into draft capital then, right?

  4. Trailing-and-Blazing

Herro isn’t bad, it’s just not what Portland wants. If he’s ‘so good’ go find suitors.

It’s the exact same problem Portland had had with flipping Simons.

  5. WhiskeyDickGotNoChic

He’s good but a bit overpaid, redundant position for the blazers, and they only have 2 picks. That’s it. If it was herro + filler + 4 firsts + swaps they’d have a 3rd team and this would be over.

  6. Balls_of_Adamanthium

Heat’s offer isn’t a pile of shit but it’s not enough. 2 things can be true, Zach.

  7. GenderIsAGolem

The biggest problem is the Blazers already have a no-defense scoring guard in Anfernee Simons, who (according to Blazers fans) has a higher ceiling. Not to mention the other two young guards we drafted in the last two years. The Heat don’t have enough in large part because we don’t want Herro, we want picks. Heat have to find a third team to take Herro and send picks to Portland plain and simple.

  8. James_NY

Didn’t Lowe himself suggest the Heat might have been better off without Herro in their playoff run?

  9. Competitive-Plan-720

the heat should go get some first round picks for him then.

Yea and Poole was traded for the corpse of CP3 not Dame Lillard. You’re gonna need a lot more for Dame.

  11. NeedLegalAssistance0

Herro has gotten underrated recently. The dude is 23 and just had back to back 20ppg seasons on solid efficiency with some flashes of playmaking too. He’s gonna get traded somewhere, show out, and everyone’s gonna act shocked as if the guy was supposed to be a bum.

  12. RVAIsTheGreatest

Herro/Robinson/two-to-three picks/swaps is a pile of poop for Damian Lillard.

  13. RFranger

It’s such an overreaction to the last playoffs that people perceive this massive gulf between maxey (who will have to be paid) and herro.

I get miamis offer isn’t the KD trade, but it’s not nothing.

  14. BobLobLaw_Law2

At this point it feels like being attacked by 100 used-car-salesman. Portland doesn’t want any part of Herro, how tough is this for people to understand….

I like Zach Lowe, and he has a good podcast, but his take on the Heat’s offer comes off as though he is working for the Heat, or at least pushing their agenda. I’m not here to say that Herro isn’t a good player, or that their offer is bad, etc., but his whole premise is that everyone else doesn’t have as good as an offer than the Heat. Meanwhile, the Heat is rightfully not offering their best offer as Dame has made it known that they’re the only team he wants to go to. It’s not a good look for Zach Lowe to be pushing this hard as it makes his other reporting come off as tainted as well. I’m sure the Heat will most likely get Dame, but they’re big boys, they don’t need Zach Lowe to keep pushing for them. It’s comical at this point.

Really missing the mark here. WE DONT WANT HEREO. We want picks.

  17. Thami15

Herro is definitely the better shooter, but Poole is the better scorer, AND he can shoot. The difference between a .34 shooter and a .38 shooter over 8-9 attempts a game is 1/2 a point per game. The real difference is how teams treat a .34 shooter vs a .38 shooter is how the defence treats them.

Also, don’t the Blazers have Simons already? Why would they be looking for another expensive shooting guard. If shooting is your only qualifier, then Simons is already there, is cheaper and is better at it than Herro.

I like Tyler, of course but he makes no sense for the Blazers unless they have a third party to reroute him to.

  18. Was that supposed to be a convincing argument lol

  19. 69millionyeartrip

Ok? One guy was traded for 38 year old chirs paul and we’re talking about the other being moved for Lillard??

  20. TheCorruptApostle

Of course this is posted by a heat fan lol

  21. _milf_cheek_clapper_

Herro is a lot like Simons… So we don’t need him. 3 team ftw!

  22. canadianRSK

They have scoot, simons and sharpe no reason to trade Dame with the best asset coming back being another gaurd

  23. People and especially Heat fans don’t understand. It’s not about Herro, it’s about what Portland needs. Blazers have Simons, Sharpe, and Scoot all playing the same position as Herro. They don’t need another combo guard that can score.
