There is no doubt we need to bring BBall Paul back and he needs to start at power foward. We're stuck with P.J. Tucker. So, he needs to come off the bench and possibly look much better against other team's backups.

Bamba will be a way better back up center than Reed. Not even close.
The Lakers never "released" Mo Bamba. They just didn't pick up his player option on 6/29, making him an unrestricted FA at the beginning of free agency.
They still could have signed Mo to a Vet Min, but would have owned his Early Bird rights in order to afford to re-sign him next summer.
The Sixers stole him away from Sixers, probably so he could showcase himself better.
But without a team or 2nd yr guarantee, it will probably be a 1 yr rental.
IMO, when Nurse/Morey saw Petrosev play, Nurse said to go get Bamba.
Petrosev is very mobile. He can guard 4s and even 3s. I don't know if Nurse feels the same way. Doubt Petrosev makes team once Reed re-signs, unless he is seen more as a backup Foward.
Sixers still have 5 M t-MLE but they have to wait to see if a team makes a large offer sheet for Paul Reed (full NT-MLE of 12.4 M or higher)
Sixers are trying to stay below the SECOND APRON of 182.8 M, NOT THE LUXURY TAX. They will be well over the luxury tax when they re-sign Reed.
As I said last year, because Morey got the Sixers below the LT with the Thybulle trade last year, they earned the right to spend this year.
Paul Reed shot 44% from 3 pt in the G-League. I don't care about his form. Doc had a short leash on Reed and wouldn't let him shoot.
Yes, BBall has too quick a release. He's not going to be covered from 3 pt, so he can take his time, and shoot over 40% in NBA.

I really like this signing.. under the correct coaching mamba can be dominant off the bench.. I like Paul Reed at PF anyway not Center.. so if we bring back Paul reed.. our bench is actually starting to look nice with mamba, Reed, Beverly, melton..

By the numbers:
Before signing Bamba, Sixers had 159.8025 M committed to 10 players.
If Bamba counts as 2.0 M towards the Cap, we are at 161.8 M for 11 players.
Hopefully Morey has permission (from Josh Harrsi) to use the taxpayer-MLE of 5.00 M to sign someone like TJ Warren (doubt they could or will sign Wood, after signing Bamba?).
So that would put the Sixers just above the 165.294 Luxury Tax to 166.8 M with 12 players. Worst case scenario is that a team still with their NT-MLE (12.4 M) offers it to Reed. That would put the Sixers at 179.2 M with 13 players, after matching that offer for Reed.. That leaves 3.6 M below the 182.794 2nd Apron.
Don't know if Petrosev is already out of the picture, with the signing of Bamba.
Should be about 180.7 M with 14 players (2.1 M below the 2nd Apron). That will allow use of three 2-way players.
Doubt any team will carry a 15th guaranteed contract into the regular season.
As with last season, Morey can sign some one off of waivers, at a pro-rated amount (refer to Dedmon signing) in February/March.
The hope though is that there won't be a strong offer, if any, for Reed.
Then Morey can get Reed to accept something like 7-8 M x 2 yrs, but with a team option for 2nd year.
The Sixers need to part ways/trade James, Tobias, PJ, Furkan, Shake. Develop Springer.

All Sixers fans Paul Reed is not a center. Reed needs to play his natural position pf. Teams keep playing 6-6 guys at pf l see Reed taking advantage of those little players with his quickness and athleticism.
