Examining the Electric Scoot Henderson | J. Kyle Mann

After the literally and figuratively long shadow of Victor Wembanyama lifted from over the 2023 NBA draft, the teams at the top of the lottery simply had to decide which consolation prize was the best. Before Brandon Miller surged onto the scene, conventional thinking suggested that Scoot Henderson, the relentlessly electric guard from Marietta, Georgia, who starred for the G League Ignite for the past two seasons, was the implied and obvious choice to go no. 2. Now that the Portland Trail Blazers have secured Henderson with the third pick, just how secure is their future? In this video, The Ringer’s J. Kyle Mann breaks down all aspects of Scoot’s game and what his trajectory as a player might be.

  1. Masterful breakdown as always from J Kyle Mann. As a Blazer fan this is a breath of fresh air from the last week.

  2. amazing work as always J & ngl Charlotte def messed up not taking scoot. This one's gonna hurt for a while

  3. He fares well with dudes much bigger than him while miller has been getting toasted at the post based on the first two summer league game. I was on the scoot train for charlotte so it still hurts 🥲. Miller isn’t that bad I guess but he clearly doesn’t have the experience scoot has on the court now.

  4. I’m a simple man. I see a J Kyle Mann video, and I click. Then proceed to be blown away by the attention to detail and knowledge.

    Well done as always

  5. Love your videos, your rythm and elocution serve your humour well, while your research is on point and very thorough, it helps knowing these future NBA stars better.

  6. Fantastic tape compilation. Learned more about Scoot than ever. Others mostly only show freak athlete highlights and it was cool to see trends of how he gets to spots and what passes get him in trouble. Surprised you basically ended saying his ceiling is a #2 on a serious contender lol

  7. Scoot next to Sharpe is super super interesting for portlands future. Cant wait to see them compete.

  8. this will either be the best or the worst draft in nba history no in between
