30 a year seems pretty good for the hawks

  2. slysonic7

Such a W to get him for this extension and not drag to free agency

  3. OutsideTheServiceBox

Heyyyy some legit news that isn’t about that one dude from Portland!

LETSGOOO HES NOT GETTING FVV MONEY

  5. justforyouabirad

Murray got the bag. Can’t wait to see what he does next on pickup courts

HES A REAL ONE. DEJOUNTE GOTTA LOVE ATLANTA

  7. The_Living_L

Looks like no Siakam deal will happen with the Hawks

  8. HoxTalksFitted

Rich Paul client just intentionally left a substantial amount of money on the table. this is wild

I know the internet has been memeing DJ for a year now but he’s pretty easily worth 30 a year, especially as the cap grows. Less money than FVV and like Jerami Grant lol

Why are people acting like $30m a year is a lot for DJM? Have y’all seen the market lmao. JB is getting $60m

Great price for a young all star

People get sticker shock at the $30m avg value, but this is basically decent starter money with the way the cap is going up

seems pretty cheap for a (imo) good PG that’s still “young”

this seems like a good bit of business for the Hawks.

That is an extremely fair deal for both sides. $30M for DeJounte locks him up and gets him paid and at a level that isn’t crushing the bank for Atlanta.

I still believe in DeJounte and Trae as a pair and they played Boston close in the playoffs. With Quin and a full season under their belts to get used to one another and an offseason with Quin I believe we’ll see the two take a step forward in their dynamic with each other.

The big question now is, with this money locked in for DeJounte…what does it mean for Hunter/Capela/Bogdanovic. All expensive, and Okongwu is about to become expensive himself. Saddiq Bey is about to become expensive. We’re surely going to see some trades from their current core to reduce salary. Collins was the first domino.

Spurs fans rooting for our demise took a big L

Damn, I thought he thought he was worth way more than that. Good contract for ATL.

One of my biggest worries with this team was Murray going into FA and doing a new ridiculous max deal that would fuck our team. He’s a good player but giving him what I thought we might have to to keep him was making me nervous. He’s taken a discount, thank you DJM

That’s a steal for dejounte. Happy for Atlanta fans.

Atlanta Officially Loves Dejounte. Ima Even Start Typing Like Him! What A Real One!!

  19. SecretaryWilling5649

That’s a good contract for him

  20. Not a crazy number at all. New CBA makes it possible with the bigger extension%

That is a GREAT deal for Atlanta. Dude’s getting paid in the range of Jordan Poole/Tyler Herro when he is way more impactful and has a more well rounded game than those players.

  22. oneoftheguysdownhere

I keep chuckling every time I see the player’s agent listed in one of these tweets. I don’t think anyone is showing up to a Hawks game next year in a Rich Paul jersey…

  23. Be-Nice-To-Redditors

I think Quin Snyder is gonna do some serious shit with the Hawks this year. Hammering the over tbh

Excellent deal for the Hawks since the assumption was that he’d wait until the contract expired to try and get a true max contract through Bird rights or otherwise. Now after trading John Collins $25m/yr, they are under the tax with the flexibility to make more moves without having to worry about Dejounte’s looming free agency. Signing an extension actually limits the amount he makes pretty significantly so it’s a surprise he took this.

For comparison, Jordan Poole signed for more ($128m / 4yr). This contract is the same as Herro’s, and less than Ayton’s ($132m/4yr). Maybe I’m biased, but imo DJM is better than all of those players.
