I’m very happy that I was in an online class at the time and did not see the ankle snap in the other tab.

Bummed about how it all went down but on the bright side I think his wife is extremely, but unintentionally, hilarious.

i feel like if he plays for us again he’ll get injured again. we have enough injury prone guys already.
GhostOfJiriWelsch
This dudes wife will never let him come back here lol
Never forget her farewell post thanking “the police who checked in on me everyday 🤓”

He gave it his all but could never really get healthy when he was needed
Celticdouble07
A shame we never got to see the Utah Hayward.
jjjuuubbbsss
Felt bad for his injuries which spelled the rest of his career. Although, I maybe wrong but his S&T dragged and didn’t give us immediate flexibility and drained the FA pool that offseason.

All things considered, him and Brad have always been close. I could see him returning at a low cost

That we were robbed of a chance at a title before the first commercial break of the season.
If he’s healthy, maybe Kyrie doesn’t melt down and that Kyrie, Jaylen, Tatum, Gordo, Al fever dream could have run shit.
The biggest what if since Len Bias. 😞

As a 6th or 7th guy. Absolutely.

One of the great what ifs in Celtics history. That was a terrible night. Definitely affected him mentally, understandably so.

One of the few players whom I’m willing to give a pass on not living up to the contract they signed. I was watching the game on TV when it happened, and you could just tell it was BAD the second it happened. The only other basketball injuries I remember seeing in real time that matched it were Paul George on Team USA and Kevin Ware when he played for Louisville.

Dude had been ballin the last couple of seasons before he signed with the C’s & people forget that, he was about a top 3 white boy in the league those years too.
DocDRabbit
Respect him a lot for sticking through the contract despite the injuries and everything else. Rumors were him getting playing time his year back from the ankle caused some of that locker room tension.
I get it from the other players perspectives, but coming back from such a brutal injury just to be shoved right into a role that your teammates don’t accept you in has gotta feel bad.
And the last year he finally got settled into a solid role that he was really good in, just to get injured again for the playoffs. So yeah, obviously wasn’t the best series of events for him but he stuck through it and never said a bad word on any of it, respect.

He was one of my favorite players in the league (mostly due to the Butler tournament run) when he signed with Boston. Definitely a big what-if in general for obvious reasons, but I thought he was a great contributor in his last season before that injury in the bubble. Really missed his playmaking and scoring the next year. If Charlotte ever bought him out I’d be down for a reunion if he accepted a bench role.

Sucks he got hurt. Battled hard to return and was a very good player his final year here

My boy Education reform!!
But for real, if he’s bought out and would play for the vet min, then maybe he should be considered.

How can you feel anything but sympathy?
I don’t think many NBA fans realize just how good he was in his final year in Utah. He got boxed into the white jump shooter category, but that man had serious hops.
Kyrie was the flashier addition that offseason, but Hayward was been the more important piece towards winning. He was simply a better all around player. I of course got reamed at the time when I made that claim. I imagine that sentiment won’t be as unpopular in this fanbase today 😊

Good God, I remember the game like it was yesterday I heard the audible snap and was like oh shit I feel like if he didn’t get hurt, he would be good here but damn man I remember hearing that was horrible

I’ll take him back immediately if he’s bought out
Sad
Sucks he wasn’t able to show his talents here due to that gruesome injury. He was a shell of himself when he came back.
I’d gladly take him with open arms but weren’t our relationship with him deteriorated after him leaving?
