  1. Looks like Siakam will kill any trade the Raps may try to do

  2. Cheechers23

Then he better sign an extension here if/when we offer it.

I’ve said it in some other threads and I think the reason we haven’t yet is that Masai/Bobby are still evaluating (yes, I know, lol) the team post-Fred. If they extend Pascal he becomes ineligible to be traded. They also don’t want to rush into a Pascal trade for cheap. So they probably want to figure out the direction they want to take this team, and then talk with Pascal and his camp about the team before making a decision on what to do with their best player.

siakam and the front office have opposing objectives here. siakam wants the most money possible, which is by extending with us next year. 1) masai and bobby don’t want to do that, paying pascal supermax is a questionable decision and 2) they want to move in another direction with the roster construction and moving pascal addresses the most issues we currently face.

if we do move him, we won’t get the value because pascal is sabotaging potential trades because he wants to stay and get more money. if we don’t move him, we likely sign him to a bad contract and essentially run it back.

two bad options, may as well cut the cord.

So, nothings changed. Thanks for the update

The effects of doubling down at the deadline continue

  6. lil-quiche

A lot of people saying Pascal has the cards here and that’s not really true. Think about what we gave up for Kawhi knowing he would likely not re-sign with us. Different player, I know, and still a big gap between Kawhi and Demar, but if a team feels that Pascal can push them to a championship then while the return will be diminished comparatively it doesn’t mean we’ll get nothing back in return. I hope Pascal is back, OG too, but I also hope we don’t continue to bleed assets with 0 coming the other way.

From everything I’ve heard he’s been resistant in signing an extension anywhere but here, and as a Raps fan who knows the pain of guys not wanting to be here, I love him all the more for it.

  8. big_nose_juicer

Raptors should never let à good player get to the last year of their contract again. Puts all the power in the player’s hand

  9. TJStrawberry

If he is willing to sign the max now I’d just do it and avoid giving him the chance to get the super max or walk for nothing. We can always revisit a trade to some teams of his choice in a year or two if we want to give him that respect.

  10. Right-Beautiful7631

Sign him to a max extension which is a way more moveable contract than if he gets the super max, see how the team performs for the first half of the season and if the fit isnt right move him at the deadline or next off season

  11. Equivalent_Fox_1546

Going from Toronto to Atlanta is a massive downgrade in countless categories, I don’t blame Siakam.

  12. Thiru_IO

Now that Murray is signed, and Kobe is signed to his rookie contract, (AFAIK neither can be traded anytime soon) who would Raptors want back from Atlanta for Siakam?

  13. idislikehate

Then sign the extension now, Pascal. He’s not worth the super max in any world. If he’s going to tank his value and disrupt what the front office is trying to do, then he needs to remove the risk this team has going into the last year of his deal.

  14. Raptorsthrowaway1

Love Pascal. All time great Raptor. But if you are resitant to being traded to another team you have to sign the extension.

Masai and Bobby should be on the block if OG and Pascal get to UFA this summer.

  15. KhoolWip

Don’t let Siakam “Wanting” to stay fool you. He only wants to stay because this is where he has the greatest chance of earning the most money by earning an All-NBA team spot.

  16. guardian416

I think this is the media grasping at straws. I just don’t see this happening.

  17. fdisfragameosoldiers

So we trade him for a haul and he resigns here next year for free? 😁

  18. Uglyboi_85

He’s doing everything he can to stay in Toronto lol

  19. Solo59YF

I love OG, but Pascal can at least handle the ball. Let’s continue to build around him and Scotty, and pair them with a star level pg? Star pg, Trent, Scotty, Pascal and Jakob. Trade OG for that star pg, the man is most wanted anyway.

I know Dame stubborn, but he should take notes from Kawai. Toronto will LOVE him! Sorry, CANADA! Dame refuses Boston cause of racial rumors, Toronto (Canada) far from that bruh

  20. larrylegend1990

Who does he want to play for? Just toronto?

  21. twokidsonedog

The Pascal and Dame situation shows players have too much power on where they get traded.

  22. alinozakaza

No legit max player that will get a max from pretty much most team in the NBA in free agency is going to make promises of signing an extension to a team that wants to trade for him. It could be any team and It could also be the hawks if he believes in what they are doing.

  23. mo_downtown

Reports also sound a lot more like teams calling about Siakam rather than the Raptors pushing to trade him.
