Really nice write-up about our 3 most important summer league guys: “Cavaliers to Sign Emoni Bates, Isiah Mobley, and Craig Porter Jr. to Two-Way Contracts”

despite all of the limitations of the new CBA, it’s great that we can sign 3 two-ways instead of 2. Porter Jr already being signed to a two-way is a great sign too, i really like his game. Wonder who we fill out the rest of our roster with

Another Porter Jr.? Mr. Porter Sr. Must be giving Wilt a run for his money on body count

Pretty much confirms Travers is back down under.

This is garbage and not a good thing. Only the cavs place actual draft picks in 2 way contracts smh.
If we can’t roll into the season with dudes who are going to be on the main roster the whole damn year, then what are we doing? Cavs always have suck ass bench becauae they’re always too busy sending talent to Canton all the damn time to die.
This is bullshit and is gonna be the thorn in our ass because JB doesn’t do anything with dudes on 2 way contracts outside use them when some other scrub is injured to fill out the bench

Nice share, hadn’t seen that Mobley2 and Emoni had gotten 2 ways.
This is the most exciting summer league team we have put together in a while. Mobley, Bates, Porter, Travers, Merril, and Diop could ALL have a path to the main roster, with my bet being Merril’s team option will be exercised this year to start. Developing second round and undrafted guys can be an enormous boost to a team, with both teams in this years finals being great examples of that

Question: Weve used all three 2-way spots but still have 2 open roster spots left. So let’s Nance or someone else has a great summer league, could we upgrade Mobley to the full roster and sign nance to the 2 way?
The reason i ask is because It seems extremely unlikely that any of the other guys play well enough to warrant one of the 2 real roster spots and jump the three 2 way guys for it, so does that mean the best they could do at this point is secure a spot on the Charge? I’m not saying it will happen but what happens if Nance looks great and like someone worth developing, if he’s just a Charge guy then he could get signed to a 2 way by someone else.

i’m always going to root for our guys no matter what, but this left me with almost no hope for Emoni
> Bates, an All-Mid-American Conference Third Team selection, also recorded four double-doubles and his 19.2 points per game average ranked 39th nationally and third in the MAC. Additionally, Bates finished fourth in the MAC in three-point field goals made per game (2.5) and shot 76-230 (.330 3FG%) from beyond the arc on the season.
i went to OU for 7 years for undergrad and Grad school and was able to watch at least 10 MAC basketball games a year (didn’t get to see Emoni unfortunately)
idc if he’s only 19 or whatever, there’s no NBA level prospect who should play that poorly in the MAC. for example, Jason Carter at 20 was 16/6/3 on 48/35/71 and he’s nowhere even close to being an NBA player even though he was really good in the MAC
but i am extremely excited about craig porter jr. a guy who can do everything is somebody who will make it on the team eventually.
really excited to watch Diop and Porter this summer and excited to see if Brobley can improve his 3pt stroke. Isaiah with a good 3 ball would be a fun facilitating and stretch 4 off the bench

Two spots left. One they likely keep open for flexibility. Wouldn’t be shocked if they brought back Windler on a min deal for the other one.

I think I’m most excited to see Craig Porter Jr. hopefully Isiah can take a leap, but Craig Porter looks like a very useful player that’s comfortable with the ball.

This means barring any huge injuries like 2 seasons ago they likely will be spending all their time with the charge. Which isn’t bad for someone like Emoni. He can basically get as many shots as he wants, continue to develop as a primary ball-handler, and work through his mistakes. Jordan Poole basically spend a lot of his first two seasons in the G-league and it did wonders for his game. Hope he takes advantage and gets stronger.
